anyway, i just bought my board... i'm gonna have second thoughts if i were to sand it up just to place the design since it did cost me to buy it... maybe when it tasted its scratches or a lot of dings then i'll be able to give it a shot.

yeah... i surf in daet (bagasbas beach) and a few days ago they told me the waves are about 5ft high. last time i've been there is july.. will probably have a 1 week trip by the first week of october.

hmm... the waters really cold in your place.. that's the reason why surfers there wear wetsuits, right? to get themselves warm.

yeah... i'm used to going to daet alone... i dunno.. i should have posted to a different topic called going on a surf-trip alone and not surfing alone.. but hey... i've already had my share of surfing alone... sometimes it's scary... sometimes it's wild... specially when the waves are all calm except for the sets... and it's raining hard enough but not windy.... it's the serenity that's the best with surfing alone... and specially for people like me... who enjoys thinking... hehee... like... i only stop thinking when i have to ride.... all things stopped... and then i get wiped out.. hehehe... i've been surfing for almost two years now.. almost all the time that i went on a surf trip, i go alone... set-up my tent alone... but of course, the first time around, i wasn't alone.. or at least the next time i go to a spot i havent been yet, i'll have to prepare and contact people and mingle first...

i read in one of the posts here too that it's a big thing to befriend the locals.. specially if you're a one man surf nomad... coz they'll be your family there... that way, even if you're alone, you'll still be as safe as safe can be.. except if you're just very unlucky.. or all flashy and stuff... hehee... well if you see me, you'll think i'm a bum... so maybe that's the reason why they dont suck up on me or kill me on the spot.. hehe..

anyway... there are good reasons for surfing (i mean going out) with buddies... specially when waiting for the swells to come... it's when the fun of being with someone is... you won't go crazy talking to yourself... hehehe...

you can start your lessons in daet too.. in bagasbas... waves arent really perfect.. but that's for the pros.. for beginners, they're good enough.... there's a place where you can rent a board too... mike and joy's... i'll be going to daet probably in february... but you can go there without me.. people are friendly there.. and it's a public beach so you dont need to pay anything.... accommodations... there's a place where it's 600 per overnight and stuff... fits 10+ people in... it's right in front of the beach...

i have two vhs tapes here... it's actually not mine... but i'm planning to have it converted to vcds... they are "automatic" and "tom curren / kelly slater surf biographies"... i cant find people here who convert vhs to vcd..

if anyone of you does that, we can trade.. hehe.. you can have a copy of the movies when you convert and i can have another copy for free.. i'll provide the blank cds..

plus, i might be able to also get other vhs surf videos.. so... if you're up to it, i'll provide the blank cds, you provide the hardware... and let's all share them...

hmm... problem is i dont have a vhs player.. heheh... but yeah, that's a good idea.. thanks man..

a friend of mine is planning on hosting a surf competition this summer.. in daet... i just dunno what date yet.. but he wants to get hooked up with media companies.. entities.. who'll be interested in it..

it's gonna be a well planned event and will really require funds.. that's why he's planning to have it covered by media entities... and he's also planning to look for sponsors... which would be enticed by the media that would cover the event.. this will be a non-profit event... and aims to somehow unite, or tie-up a bond between all the few surfers here in the philippines.. hmm... plans include covering the travel fare from manila to daet, lodging and food for all the participants for the span of the whole event, and other activities that would make it a great one...

yeah.. plans are simple... making drafts and paper works are not so much easy... but getting the sponsors and media is an entirely different matter... so i decided to post here.. maybe some of you know somebody in GMA7 or ABS-CBN or other media entities... or possible sponsors for that matter...

yeah.. the main one in daet is bagasbas... and it's a long one too... there's another surf spot in mercedez... and another in san jose.. the other two are extensions of the bagasbas beach... they're like one long beach (and some reefs)... disjointed by two river mouths...

also.. there are other hidden spots.. in the islands nearby... just my additional cents..
