thanks for the replies.. yeah.. i was thinking of that too... i havent talked to the bigman.. the main brain for the event about it... hmm.. the date it's planned to take place is on the 3rd week of april of this year.. last time i was there during the holy week, wave's not so consistent... except when there was a storm in the pacific... it's in the holy week period... waves are so huge but so powerful and hmm... not really consistent... anyway... i'll talk to him about it too...

one more thing i've been thinking about this is that the planning should have started during the last months of last year... i think it's not easy to organize an event this big within just a few months...

either way, it's still a good start to find contacts for the sponsors and medias...

but yeah.. the easiest would be to try and get info from pinkz where she/he saw this PhP150 per cd conversion costs.... if it's all good, all of us here may also gain from it... we can share it with us! PhP1500 original vhs tapes (like the endless summer at yokohama in robinsons place ermita) is just way too costly...

the image has to be located somewhere that it's online.. a site.. you must specify a url... and place the following whenever you refer to an image:

an opening bracket and closing bracket and the word "img" om between, then the URL of the image then an opening bracket and a backslash and the "img" and then closing bracket

the opening [img] and it's closing counterpart which is an [img] with a backslash are always required... and the image should be in an image repository site somewhere...

checkout the icons on top of your message text area whenever you try and post.. one of them is the one that's used for placing images on the board...

hmm... there must be a program within tripod that prevents pictures hosted from within their site to be shown in another site.. it happens sometimes.. depending on the rules or configurations of the web servers... i tried viewing the same URL of the mati image from a different window and it shows fine... just slow... but fine.. and here, a different image gets shown...

ohh.. it shows fine now... funny... im a dork.. hehe

ok seriously... the event the bwc is hosting in daet is a non-profit event... bwc (bagasbas waveriders club) is a non-profit organization, after all... it has been helping a lot of the rural kids have a worthwhile life by introducing the sports to them, issuing them second hand boards they can still use for surf, hosting local competitions and events (such as surf clinic, surf rescue volunteer operations during holy weeks), and other non-profit projects which helps maintain the cleanliness of bagasbas beach (coz it gets a lot of people in there during weekends and holidays)...

the event is supposed to help show the people of daet how important the bagasbas beach stretch as well as make sure it's safe and no one gets drowned and yeah... host surf events too coz one of the things it supports is the unity of the philippine surf community... and that's one reason why i posted it here... coz as far as i know, the surf forum is the only surf community that most of the philippine surfers go to...

anyway... ive started surfing in daet and have been surfing there *only* ever since... that's why i love it that much to become a sort of *emissary of daet* even if im not being paid for it and even if no one's asking me to do so... i wanna help them coz i see how good the surfers there are.. and how unsupportive the local government is of all the things relating to surf that's been happening there... yeah, they provide very minimal assistance not enough to help make it a better place for the locals and it's not good.. they planned to host this competition to help better a lot of things there...

i love bagasbas and bwc so much i even proposed to make their website for free although it is still in the making (but if you want to take a look at a teaser of its homepage, message me privately).. so there... hehe.. i suppose i'm some kind of emissary who evangelizes how good it is to surf in daet... but yeah, if you also wanna hear the bad things i experienced there, i'd be happy to tell you, too... there are a lot of them too... and they're worst than the bluebottles... heheh..

yeah they dont care about people going surfing in the island... well... i did plan to have my next visit be dropped off at the barrio... that's where we bought the fish we ate... small barrio... if i can, i'd probably stay there too... live there for a bit... with the locals... the ones in the barrio... about 20 families only, i think...

yeah... hehe.. i dunno anyone tho.. but if i find someone, i'll stay there for real.. been planning to stay in daet for 6 months this year too...

im in daet right now.. talked to alvin about the event.. thing is, i dont know what course of action he'll take now coz there's this national surf tour comp being organized and one of its drop offs is at daet.. we might just let the national surf tour comp organizers take care of it all.. alvin's trying to contact any of the organizers tho to see if he can give any help he can...

anyway, i'll tell alvin about your proposal..

hmm... i dunno if this is a known fact or not but i think i heard somewhere that feb's one of the peak seasons of surf in daet... but yeah, most of the waves are effects of low pressures and typhoons near bicol... anyway, i just got back from daet.. been there since start of feb and the waves go as high as one and a half as high as me... well, it's still windy and it's still not the perfect waves in daet but these give good long rides specially when ripping across the channel...

i stand 3' by the way... hehehe...

hehehehe.. doray... the winds are really crazy in daet and that what's make surfing more fun and crazy... waves arent as predictable as when they are calm and coming in sets... waves just come when you least expect them so you have to really watch and wait and have a quick reflex on when to and not to ride... more wipe outs and more washing machine experiences and more over the falls and they are all great.... and when you ride that adrenaline-rushed ride, they will keep you wanting to go back in spite of the cold strong winds and crazily criss-crossing waves...

mocha's having a real grand time taking care of my godchild.. hehehehe... and she still surfs... i just dont look at her much when she surfs coz i happen to be looking at the waves myself...

yeah, well... peeps in daet arent too enthusiastic with the event coz the organizers dont give a shit about them... no words until now when i heard that some of them are even pals of alvin... anyway... if it happens, we'll prolly see each other.. ill tell mocha your regards... ill tell her you're eyeing on beating her on her own grounds... hehehehehe
