yeh it is a pity that the waters pretty poor there!There's a little spot at SASA on the other side of the river mouth that is a little cleaner and some oh so tiny waves break there.On low tide you can walk across the sandbar to the other side,or just cross the main bridge and weave thru some of the locals houses there,they don't mind Its a little murky near the shore,but about 50metres out it's clear...good for swimming

Ill be in Davao on the 25th of March.There's some guys at the HABAGAT in SM MALL who surf too,they usually surf a little up north.Pop in there and ask them,Im sure theyd be happy to at least help you out or let you surf with them Im not sure of any places to stay at Mati,last time we were there we just camped on the beach.

Mark,what you said about foreigners being allowed to invest in Philippines tourism ventures without requiring a fiipino partner I think is true.I know a couple Australians who invested in some land with a Japanese guy about a year or so ago.

I guess a lot of filipinos are fed up with some of the foreingers who are condescending,ignorant and arrogant..to put it bluntly.All you have to do is spend a few hours in the airport transit lounge to hear these guys talking shit to each other,as if theyre gods and that these women are objects,that the country is their easy access playing field.But,thats just a minority I guess..you can't judge every foreinger by that small group of guys who make their way to the Philippines every year.There are good guys out there too with good intentions!

Im selling MRS PALMERS WARM WATER WAX,90grams for 130pesos a block.I'm only selling to individuals and in small amounts because I don't want somebody coming along and then putting some crazy price on it so it becomes so unaffordable.Just trying to provide wax to surfers for a reasonable price!

If you havent smashed it against anything it might just be a dodgy......thin glass job.Longboards usually have 6-8ounce glass jobs,but sometimes some shapers use a thinner glass(4ounce)because it makes the board lighter.If theres no foam exposed,but there are bubbles..then it should be ok just chuck some duct tape over it.If it is exposed,even just a little bit....get it fixed or else any water will make the foam swell.

Yep,Daet was fun One of the guys that surfs there said he hasnt seen it that clean for a while.Consistent sets,clean and long.Have some photos,but havent uploaded them yet(I'll also put some of the photos up of the surf in Dumaguate a couple of months ago).The Daet locals are super friendly and Nanay Dors is officially my adopted Lola..hehehe

Mark!Good to hear from you again.Unfortunately we didnt get to go to the outer islands,but from Bagasbas we saw Mercedes breaking pretty well.The guys back home in Oz also said the swell has been pretty much non-existant,except for a couple of random good days over the past 2 months.

if you've got such a problem with FLUID,have the guts and take it up face to face with the owners of Fluid instead of trying to bad mouth them here in the comfort and anonymity of this forum.Saying random,petty remarks about a company you probaby have no idea about is kind of a weak act don't you think?These guys have kept their company local,support local,stayed true to their surfing roots since the very beginning and still continue to do so.I think they deserve a bit more respect thn an 8year old remark of "don't buy fluid".You've proved your stupidity once again Spoonman,good work.

we dont know the exact words that were said between Jorn and the local guys of Zambales,but wouldnt it be better to take it up personally with him instead of publicly throwing shit on the entire company of Fluid,here on the forum? Jorn isnt the only person heavily involved with Fluid and out of common respect,dont think it's fair that you down the entire company for his own personal actions whatever they may be.Just a thought.

trip was crazy good...9 months of chaos&calm wasnt long enough Arrived in Sydney and rang my mum crying my head off...babbling that I didnt want to be here(Oz),I wanted to go back to the Philippines ASAP and she replied with "YOU'RE NOT EVEN IN BLOODY BRISBANE YET!"..haha.Its nice to be in Oz na,but I miss my friends and family in the P.I. so much already,not to mention the country itself...HAY NAKU!

Are you getting any surf down south?There's been nothing here except strange winter-like weather and mush.North Coast New South Wales got solid,clean 8ft about a week or so ago.

I think maybe the "roots" thing Jorn is referring to is just the act of going out and surfing,pure and simple I guess.Not to be a mega-bitch,but there are a lot of people in Manila (and around the world too)who surf once and never again,but claim they are surfers because of the "cool" factor.The popularity of surfing within mainstream society is increasing in the Philippines and since its such a unique experience,I guess theres a few individuals who are just trying to jump on the bandwagon and talk a lot of smack for the sake of image.But,I think it's a given...its been happening for so long all over the world and will always be there.If it remains just talk and image,it doesnt really do any harm,as long as you as an indivdual are out there surfing whenever you can and enjoying it in the process then none of this other bullshit should matter should it?
