hey i just got a new longboard, i used it four times, and i didnt do anything stupid with it that i know of (crash into the sand, hit against a wall, etc), theres already a ding by the nose on the bottom of the board and it looks a little bubbled up under, as far as i can tell it's water tight though, should i keep surfing with it or bring it somewhere to get it fixed, and how much do you think it would cost? is this a common thing to get a ding that fast? thanks for the help, mike.

If you havent smashed it against anything it might just be a dodgy......thin glass job.Longboards usually have 6-8ounce glass jobs, but sometimes some shapers use a thinner glass(4ounce)because it makes the board lighter. If theres no foam exposed, but there are bubbles..then it should be ok just chuck some duct tape over it.If it is exposed, even just a little bit....get it fixed or else any water will make the foam swell.

hi mike... smiley

there's a hardware shop in tramo... about a few (30-40) meters from edsa road, on the right side... near the ralph's wines (before you reach it)... that sell ding repair materials.. fiber cloth, resin, hardener, etc... if you know someone who knows how to repair and can help you, check that shop out... it'll save you lotsa money. wink there's a shop in catanduanes that sells branded ding repair kits, too... i believe the owner's in this forum, too.. ask around. smiley

regards, man.

My board again as what happen to my old board. The skin of the board just starting to separate from the fiber due to exposed. Some of my friends suggestion that it can be fix through injecting with a resin so the skin will stick back again to the foamhuh

hi turtle_boy... wasnt able to push through with the trip... ahaha.... maybe next weekend.. work (as usual)... sige... ill tell ghe about you guys.

hi kurdec... this is how they do it in daet (just in case you wanna do it on your own and do some experiments).. they cut off the fiber cover and let the foam dry up in a shade... then they put the cover back and seal it with resin.they do put resin inside, too, sorta like glue to paste the fibercover to the board.... pero it will change the weight or balance of the board (i think, haha).... anyway, i wont be able to say that it's foolproof and right... it's just what ive seen them do..

peace out. smiley

For the nose ding on the longboard, it shouldn't be too complicated, just neeed one of those ding repair kits and some coarse, 80 grade sandpaper (get a coupole of sheets sa hardware store). That said, it will be matrabaho, but if a sander is not available, what else can we do? Won't be too hard, hindi naman parang nagtutulak ka ng elepante uphill sa Makiling, just need a few hours to smoothen out the ding. And sunlight to dry the resin solutions. Did basic repairs on my board back in the day, and it's tedious, but fun and a learning experience, good bonding time with your board. For ding repair kits, walang tatalo sa Solarez. Good luck, 'igan!
