My Dearest Dodo,

Would you be so kind good sir not to piss in my pocket and answer the following seven world class questions.

1. What constitutes a world class wave?

2. What world class waves have you surfed other than your own world class wave?

3. Can you name ten world class waves that closely resemble your world class wave?

4. Why are there not world class professional surfers flocking to surf your world class wave?

5. Why hasn't a surf movie been made featuring your world class wave?

6. Why hasn’t a major or minor surfing magazine ever mention your world class wave?

7. Do you realize the meaning of your name?

Dodo do·do  n. pl. do·does or do·dos 1. A large, clumsy, flightless bird (Raphus cucullatus),  formerly of the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, that has been extinct since the late 17th century. 2. Informal One whose dress, lifestyle, and ideas are hopelessly passé. 3. Informal A stupid person; an idiot.

I do think your world class wave resembles Narrabeen.

Go here to check it out.

I'm not Dodo...I'm just new here (forum)...also new in surfing...Was just wondering why a lot of Dodo bashing is going on? Never met the guy but he was kind and accomodating when I contacted him for a reservation at Crystal Beach.

I wouldn't know exactly what a good and bad wave is but I definitely enjoyed my 1st surf trip to Zambales.

One thing I got from the surfers (not only from Zambales) I met is : Not everyday is a perfect wave day...Maybe it was just not the perfect wave day...

Anyway, I hope these "bad mouthing" threads stop since it'll definitely kill the sport soon...

Just my thoughts.Thanks.

you're right omi...... it's all just crap to start labeling or standardizing or bashing others out just coz they are not politically correct with things they say.

world class wave.... it's all bullshit if you have to keep instilling that this is a world class and this is not... you're not focusing on enjoying the ride anymore but on the technicality... i sometimes say epic in daet... i watched billabong odyssey and found a real epic wave...... but what if people hasnt defined these waves as "epic" or "world class" yet? what if we go back in time when all the people just enjoy the waves and not start labeling and comparing?

that's why right now the world is really full of shit and crap...... coz a lot of people want to box everybody else into a certain classification or another.

whatever dodo says, each reader can either believe or not believe or either get curious and go there or just dont mind and dont read at all. there are even those who dont read the forum at all so what's the big deal?

not to disrespect you, cane_toad, but if you really think dodo's words are all bullshit, then why go on and read it and post replies? why do you even need to spend longer time to research on the meaning of his name? do you know the meaning of toad? or cane? and why do you need to go find some "authoritative" definition? cant you make your own? after all, surfing isnt surfing yet when it started. the english dictionary just made it "surfing".....

you know what would make things more interesting? if we start redefining the world. cheers "dude"!

Spoonman,

if you've got such a problem with FLUID,have the guts and take it up face to face with the owners of Fluid instead of trying to bad mouth them here in the comfort and anonymity of this forum.Saying random, petty remarks about a company you probaby have no idea about is kind of a weak act don't you think? These guys have kept their company local, support local, stayed true to their surfing roots since the very beginning and still continue to do so.I think they deserve a bit more respect thn an 8year old remark of "don't buy fluid".You've proved your stupidity once again Spoonman, good work.

happy surfing,
millie.

Dodo Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
--------------------------------------
Copyright 1998-2000, David Reilly. All Rights Reserved.

Q: 1.. PEOPLE USE THE WORD DODO AS AN INSULT. WAS IT REALLY STUPID?
NO! The dodo, being an animal, didn't have the same
levels of intelligence as people, but nor did it suffer
from a lack of SMARTS. This fallacy may stem from the
fact that early visitors to the island were surprised
to find the dodo to be a FRIENDLY bird - despite the
fact that they were slaughtered in large numbers. Just
because an animal doesn't have an innate fear of an
introduced predator (man), doesn't necessarily indicate
a lack of intelligence.
Q: 2.. Why do people use the phrase "dead as a dodo"?
The dodo is an extinct bird, and is often remembered
for its death.
Q: 3.. What is a dodo bird?
The dodo bird is an extinct bird, which is believed to
have died out around 1681 AD. The dodo bird was a gray,
flightless bird, and may be a distant relative of the
pigeon family. It had a large, hooked beak, and a
plume of white feathers adorned its tail.
Surprisingly little is known about the dodo and its way
of life. Some scientists believe that the dodo was
extremely overweight, from between twenty and twenty
three kilograms. Others speculate that it was much
thinner, and that it was a running bird. There are no
live specimens of dodo to examine, and paintings and
drawings of the dodo show great differences in its size.
Q: 4.. What is the scientific name of the dodo?
The scientific name of the dodo bird is "Raphus
Cucullatus".
Q: 5.. Where did the dodo bird live?
The dodo bird lived on the island of Mauritius, which
is located off the coast of Africa. On the island, the
dodo had few, if any, predators, and it was safe for the
bird to live on the ground. This changed with the
introduction of feral animals, and with the influence
of man.
Q: 6.. When was the dodo first discovered?
The dodo was first discovered in 1581, by visitors to the
island of Mauritius.
Q: 7.. When did the dodo become extinct?
The exact date is uncertain, but it is generally believed
that the dodo was extinct around 1681.
Q: 8.. Why did the dodo become extinct?
When man introduced new species, the dodo was easy prey.
However, the direct influence of man through hunting also
played a significant role - eventually leading to the
extinction of the species.Q: 9.. Where can I find dodo products?
The best place to buy dodo products is at Dodo Island, an online
site devoted to the dodo that also sells dodo products. There's a
huge range of dodo figures, toys, clothes, and accessories. For
more information, see http://www.dodoisland.com/

Each of the 54 charms that belong to the DoDo line carries a distinct message, meant to carve a niche in the recipient's heart. Cases in point are the frog (kiss me, I'm your prince), the snail (honey, slow down), the dog (always by your side) and the starfish (I'm fragile).
"DoDo is an easy way to talk to the heart because it transmits an emotion," said Francesco Minoli, chief executive officer at ... DODO'S CHARMED LIFE.
