you can consider it a good time to visit the phils, chances of getting good waves in zambales during those months are high. get in touch with one of the posters here, ZambalesSurfingAssoc, hes a local and can be of much help to you. anyway, you still have lotsa time to iron things out. ![]()

Jerry your right. I have never had the pleasure of wearing a 5/4 steamer with hood and booties fortunately. Good to hear you have some good waves as I am sure we will get some good ones soon as well. The good thing about living in Sydney is we don't usually have to wait too long for good waves the downside is the crowds. I'm wearing a springy at the moment but we are only a week or so away from just putting on boardies and a rashie. Alona don't get too bumbed out with Dodo he's just trying to make a living. At least he isn't trying to stop anyone from surfing in his backyard. Remember a little bit of bulls#it never really hurt anyone. Hope it's pumping wherever you are.

The surf in front of Crystal Beach Resort has been having very nice waves for 6 days in a row already. A lot of foreigners and Manila based surfers have not stopped going back to Crystal Beach again and again and again. They say surf is very good here and I really think everybody reading messages in this forum should try surfing at Crystal Beach and i think it is more likely, just like the hundred others, that you will surf here again and again and again.... Don't take my word for it coz i could be biased but at least believe in so many others who are very much satisfied in surfing at Crystal Beach. Also, we definitely want more income so that we will be able to help others more and most especially the local surfers because almost all of the income generated by the resort through your generous patronage go back to the community and to the local surfers. And that's another reason why it's a must that you surf at Crystal Beach because i sincerely believe that you guys also want to help. Zambales been havin good waves lately and even today. By the way, anyone who wants to surf Magsaysay or Timmy's Point Break we'll be more than willing to bring you there. It's located right in front of my cousin's property so we can surf there anytime. Pls check out some surf photos at www.crystalbeach.com.ph Custom Made Surfboards for Beginners are now available for orders at Crystal Beach Resort. Within the 6 days of good surf you claim, I was in tim's point where it was onshore slop. It gets the same swell as Crystal beach, though being a point , waves are better groomed. Yet it was still shitty. I cant imagine how it would've been at crytsal beach. You surely could though. I wish you all the luck in helping out your community. You must be an extraordinarily good person since divine intervention seems to bless your spot with unlimited perfection. I, on the other hand, surfing at the same time on a better situated break on the same coastline, got to surf absolute crap.

I had a surf yesterday in shitty conditions on the beach and the break was much better than both the point breaks and the reef breaks in my local. Alona just because it is a point break does not mean it will always be better than a beach break. Cheers Guys By the way I am not sticking up for Dodo or Crystal Beach as I don't personally know him and I would probably never visit Crystal Beach for a surf, although Zambales does get good waves from time to time there are far better places to surf in the Philippines.

Before I started surfing in better spots in La Union and the pacific side, I got to know the Zambales spots pretty well. For about 3 years I went 2-3x/month. Crystal beach, San Narciso, shares the same aspect and gets the same exact swell as the nearby spots I'd surf when there's a good-sized swell. Except crystal is much deeper and being more exposed, the sand bars don't build up well. When a big swell comes in, it churns the bottom topography up again, making it very messy. I would go there to check conditions but invariably end up going to other spots instead. Even crystal locals do so if they get a chance to hitch in their guests' cars. As you said a little bulls*&%t never hurt anyone. But ZSA goes for huge servings of bull which do upset people, as in this thread: http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Asia/Philippines/Luzon/crystal_bea ch_break/message/index.php3?min=30&max=31 Since it was a public forum I'm reposting part of it here: >>>I'm Really sorry! by Dodo U. Ramos 3 Apr 2002 To all surfers: Sorry for overstating this spot. Maybe because it's my Homebreak and that's how I feel about the spot. Again sorry for my subjectiveness. If I have a chance, I will be changing some statements to be more objective. Thanx for understanding... Sincerely, Dodo U. Ramos<<< This was in regard to Dodo's posting that crytal was a word-class wave that goes 500 meters long.

Fellow surfers, Before you head out to Crystal Beach Resort, here are 4 questions you have to ponder: 1. Does ZambalesSurfingAssociation headed by Dodo Ramos of Crystal Beach Resort represent the entire Zambales surfing industry? 2. How do you trust a guy who claims in wannasurf.com that his resort has a “word class” beach break when in fact you get to see shitty waves? 3. How would it feel on surfing rented boards donated by Australians? 4. What will your reactions be upon knowing that you won’t contribute to the community but instead will cheat on other areas (Magsaysay and Timmy’s Point) of a possible income? ![]()

The surf at Crystal Beach Resort is really World Class. Please visit it first and try for yourself. It's very near Manila. For some photos of Crystal Beach Surf pls visit www.crystalbeach.com.ph When you plan to surf there pls check out the wave forcast first so you will have fun surfing. But just in case you didn't check the internet for wave condition and arrive there without waves you can still have fun hanging out at some of the pristine beaches of Zambales. Or you can go fishing, Island hopping, boating, snorkeling, waterfalls tour, aeta village tour, play billiards, beach volleyball, frizbee, darts, chess, videoke singing, swing on a hammock, watch a surfing video, read surf mags, hang out with the locals, lahar trekking, mountaineering, etc., or stroll around Subic an do some parasailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, gokart racing, horsebackriding, visit zoobic and the bat kingdom, play golf, jungle tour, bar hopping, dance at Pier 1, scuba wreck diving, etc. etc. But with all this I admit that Crystal Beach cannot please everybody. I am very sorry that we cannot please all of you although we definitely want to. Also if we have displeased anyone...we sincerely apologize. And to those that patronized us...our overflowing gratitude! Pls watch channel 7 this Saturday Nov 27 at 10AM and see a glimpse of Crystal Beach Surf. I would like to thank the following for doing a feature on Crystal Beach Surfing: www.surf.com.ph URGE Magazine GAMEPLAN ANC Channel GMA 7 and Manila Bulletin. Have fun!

Since you've mentioned "a hundred others" , going back there "again and again and again," your resort must be doing very well, and the community sharing merrily in the spoils. Would you mind extending your charity to fulfill the solemn pledge you gave me when my tires got slashed in Tim's Point: "In behalf of us here in Zambales we would like to ask your forgiveness for the slashing incident. I wish to pay for your tire." I gave you my bank account details, so was hoping the check was in the mail, but that was 10 months ago. Not very hopeful now. Anyway, to save you the trouble of posting tomorrow, I've spared you the typing so you can concentrate on charitable community work. The surf in front of Crystal Beach Resort has been having very nice waves for 8 days in a row already. A lot of foreigners and Manila based surfers have not stopped going back to Crystal Beach again and again and again...

Fellow surfers, Here are 4 honest answers to questions of au_surfer. 1. Does ZambalesSurfingAssociation headed by Dodo Ramos of Crystal Beach Resort represent the entire Zambales surfing industry? ANSWER: ZSA REPRESENTS ZAMBALES IN MAJOR SURF COMPETITIONS IN SIARGAO, LA UNION, BALER, DAET, LANUZA, ETC. ALTHOUGH WE ARE THE ONLY RECOGNIZED SURFING ASSOCIATION IN ZAMBALES (RECOGNIZED BY THE GOVERNOR, CONGRESSMAN, DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM, SMEDC, ZAMBALES TOURISM COUNCIL, DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY, ETC.), BUT NO, WE DON'T REPRESENT THE "ENTIRE" ZAMBALES SURFING INUSTRY. 2. How do you trust a guy who claims in wannasurf.com that his resort has a “word class” beach break when in fact you get to see shitty waves? ANSWER: THE TRUTH IS THAT CRYSTAL BEACH RESORT REALLY HAS A WORLD CLASS BEACH BREAK. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TRUST ME FOR IT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS VISIT CRYSTAL BEACH ESPECIALLY ON GOOD SURFING CONDITIONS THEN GO AROUND THE WORLD AND COMPARE IT TO OTHER BEACH BREAKS. YOU WILL THEN DISCOVER THAT WHAT I AM SAYING IS NOT JUST A FACT BUT THE TRUTH. 3. How would it feel on surfing rented boards donated by Australians? ANSWER: THERE ARE 3 SURFBOARDS DONATED BY AUSTRALIANS AND WERE ASSIGNED TO TOP 3 FINANCIALLY POOR ZAMBALES SURFERS- MANUEL, JAYPEE AND GORYO. WE HAVE THOSE BOARDS RENTED SO THAT THEY CAN BUY LEASHES, WAX, SURF REPAIR MATERIALS, BOARD SHORTS, FOOD ON THEIR TABLE, AND CLOTHES ON THEIR SKINNY BODIES. PLS RENT THOSE BOARDS...HELP THESE KIDS...AND FEEL GOOD! 4. What will your reactions be upon knowing that you won’t contribute to the community but instead will cheat on other areas (Magsaysay and Timmy’s Point) of a possible income? ANSWER: I AM SORRY BUT I SINCERELY THINK THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. WHAT WE DO IS INTRODUCE OTHER ZAMBALES SURF SPOTS THEN ONCE THEY KNEW ABOUT IT THEY GO THERE BY THEMSELVES AND SPEND THEIR MONEY IN THAT AREA. THAT MEANS INCOME TO THE LOCAL SURFERS IN THAT AREA AND INCOME TO THE COMMUNITY.

Yes, I did watch GMA 7 and yes, they did film at Crystal Beach Resort, at least at the opening part of the program, but when the surfing part came, San Antonio, Zambales took the limelight. Ahoy! With shallow waters and close proximity of the surrounding mountains and islands, there is no doubt Christian Bautista surfed the river mouth of Magsaysay. Are they (GMA-7) aware that they surfed beyond the territory of Crystal Beach Resort? What happened to the “World Class” waves in San Narciso, Zambales? Is this profiting at the expense of others? ![]()

Wow! All that I can comment is that even in Oahu Hawaii we seldon get perfect conditions but since we are on the pacific side we do get allot of surfing days. As far as the Crystal Beach place, never surfed there or really caught any surf in Zambales but have just missed swells over there a few times, sort of like Florida the waves are fun when they are on either from Low Pressure ground swells or typhoons (hurricanes) typically the first day is all clean and really small or super windy blown out, after the storms move off or away sometimes cleans up and a few days or a day of great waves are to be had. Have to get some waves there so can tell but when I went to a super nice place in Zambales the potenial for sick waves was everywhere! one place was a beach break another a point break and some killer reef breaks offshore! Wow all that we needed was some swells... My friends said that the two or three days before that was all time epic off shore glassy and 4 feet plus maybe 6 ft (2 meters) so see you out there and hope for some fun waves on my next trip home aloha J

Spoonman those were my pictures they used in the MTV Ink magazine. All the photos of surfing action were shot in Baler a year ago. The fashion and product shots on the beach were taken in Capones Island by MTV Ink's photographer. It was flat in Zambales so MTV Ink asked for surfing pics from me.

au_surfer, You really don't know what you are talking about. First of all, Gameplan is NOT IN CHANNEL 7!!! You might have watched Eat Bulaga or Mulawin! Secondly, I will NEVER cheat on my fellow Zambalenos especially with San Antonio because my relatives, friends and fellow surfers and resort owners are from there. All the surfing action was at Crystal Beach Resort, San Narciso, Zambales. Why can't you accept that simple truth? PROOF: MANILA BULLETIN /JUST FOR KICKS /GAMEPLANET Columnist RAMIL DE JESUS writes about their surf adventure at Crystal Beach in San Narciso for Gameplan. Thank you for promoting San Antonio, Zambales! That's the Hawaii of Philippine surfing! I don't mind putting them on the limelight. I was one who introduced that surfspot to many manila and foreign surfers. Now the locals there are reaping the benefits! Are you a Filipino? If you are then here's what I can say: " MABUTI PA ANG MGA DAYUHAN AY TINUTULUNGAN NILA NA MAI-ANGAT ANG SURFING SCENE NG CRYSTAL BEACH NGUNIT ANG ISANG PILIPINO NA TULAD NINYO NI ALONA ANG SYANG PILIT NA BINABABA AT BINABAGSAK ANG KAPWA NINYO PINOY"

Just a few netiquette tips for ZSA/Dodo. All caps is considered screaming. Emphasis should be on content and not on typeface. Cutting and pasting your arguments repeatedly within the same thread is redundant and a waste of bandwidth. Back to the topic: I commented on this thread only because your description of the wave conditions was in direct contrast to my experience of the same swell. I was simply confounded, and i would have let your posts go without question, except that i happened to be there, and had to refute your version. There is also the matter of hype, and too much of it. Like if Zambales is the Hawaii of Philippine surfing, where does that leave Siargao or Puraran? Maybe they have a lot of pineapples in Zambales?

Dodo, My objective is to empower foreign and Filipino surfers alike with the right information since you don’t and wouldn’t care to bring the truth on the table. Again, let me apprise the surfers. On Nov 27, 2004, you made an invitation, on this very thread, to watch GMA 7 about Crystal Beach surf. It was very clear, portions were filmed at La Paz, San Narciso, (particularly the sign board that reads “Crystal Beach Resort”) but the surfing scene came as a surprise. It was not Crystal Beach Resort. And now you’re claiming Gameplan of Channel 2. More than a month after it was shown on national television. Good thing I saw the program too. True, it was entirely filmed at Crystal Beach Resort, but ask the program host, (Patricia Chiongbian) did she get stoked? I fear nawt. The fact remains, you cheated on your fellow Zambalenos. Shame on you. Better shape up Dodo, or for one day you may find yourself sporting a Pinnochio

Dodo comparing Zambales to Hawaii even for your standards is getting a bit far fetched. One thing to remember though everyone is that on its day almost every break in the world could be considered world class. Alona I agree with you in so much that if Zambales is the Hawaii of the Philippines then places like Majestics, Philippine dream, Lihim and the entire Cloud Nine area to name a few must be Nirvana. It seems a little funny to me that a place that would average a wave size of less than a foot over a year has so much attention on it. If it gets as good as you say Dodo then post some pics of it to prove your statements. The photos you have on your site does not show it to be world class. Just remember most travel agents advertise the PI as being a place you can get surf 365 days of the year with their now is the right time to surf the Philippines campaign which we all know is incorrect. I would say that the Philippines probably doesn't have any world class beach breaks although time will probably prove me wrong. It's going to be 42 degrees celcius here today and I am going to surf our not so world class beachie. Cheers all. ![]()

I guess ZSA/Dodo got so used to the kickass waves of Zambales, that when he represented Zambales in the Cloud 9 comp 2 or 3 years ago, he rode a very memorable heat. Quite distinct was his 1 and only ride, going left on the right-hand barrel, barely making the drop while prone, and continuing on the white wash, still prone. He never paddled back out, and that was the last time I saw him out on the lineup.

I lived in Subic for quite a while, never ever had a good wave in Zambales. No one mentions the strong tidal currents that you have to paddle against except when full high or low. Plus when the swell is up it usually means it is raining and the water is dirty. The best wave is during a full on Typhoon in the South China Sea, 2 to 3 meter left hander over a protected reef, clean water, and is situated at................ahh, my secret. Alona youre taking it to personally to dodo b4 it was zambales now its straight to dodo. well you really dont know dodo. our roots are from zambales we are the real local of zambales not just like other people on pundaquit who camed from mindanao like balong who is now there . we surf on our property beside magsaysay and timmys point. so you really dont know who youre dealing with. even cuzn of dodo have a property on that spot. we want to share those spot coz where not the one who started surfing in zambales we dont have a secret. american soldiers and australian started surfing there. you dont want to share all the spot in zambales. you dont want to be crowded on zambales so you guyz can enjoy. one last thing we want to share those spot for everybody to help also the locals of zambales who is based their and living permanently on zambales.

Alona how big was it the day Dodo went out. From all accounts from friends of mine who go to Cloud Nine each year the place snaps a lot of boards and can get heavy so maybe he was a little scared. I have mates who have been surfing for over 20 years and they still get scared when they are out of their comfort zone as I do and as every surfer does. I am beginning to think maybe Spoonman is right in what he is saying that some of you are trying to deter others from going to Zambales possibly because you don't get many waves there and when you do you don't want others surfing there. It doesn't seem to bother the locals who write into this post so why does it bother you. I am not having a go at you I am just curious. You seem to have a massive problem with Dodo. Cheers there are over 7000 Islands in your country surely you can find somewhere that is less crowded with the same consistancy or lack of as Zambales has. Cheers all chill a little.

au_surfer You really don't know what you are talking about. First of all, Gameplan is also NOT IN CHANNEL 2!!! You might have watched Kristala! Secondly, you are really making me laugh coz it's not Christian Bautista who surfed it was Christian Esteban! I like your sense of humor! I also love how you make up stories! Thirdly, Ms. Chiongbian of Gameplan is just so stoked here at Crystal Beach Waves that she even recommended us to her relatives and in-laws like Suki. And if you really watched you should have seen her stoked with genuine smiles from ear to ear! Fourthly, I will NEVER cheat on my fellow Zambalenos especially with San Antonio because my relatives, friends and fellow surfers and resort owners are from there. All the surfing action shot by GMA7 was at Crystal Beach Resort, San Narciso, Zambales. Why can't you accept that simple truth? All you needed to do is ask Christian and the other celebrities and the producers. Fifthly, when you say that the surfing scenes in GMA7 were done at Magsaysay Rivermouth wherein it's shallow and not deep then it just shows that you haven't gone surfing to Crystal Beach lately that the surf here has become more and more beautiful. All you have to do is ask around maybe from people from U.P. swimming team, Quicksilver, Surfworld, Underwater Hockey Team, Power-up company, Siargao surfers, Olin Duaso, Japanese surfers, Canadian surfers, Brendt surfers, Faith Academy surfers, Siargao Island Surf Co., etc, etc. The list can go on and on. Sixthly, GMA7 didn't surf and shoot beyond Crystal Beach Territory. All the surf shots were done here at Crystal Beach Resort all you have to do is again ask all the people of GMA7 who did the shooting especially the cameraman. As you know here at Crystal Beach we also have a view of the islands and the mountains pls check it out. Thank you for promoting San Antonio, Zambales! I don't mind putting them on the limelight. I was one who introduced that surfspot to many manila and foreign surfers. Now the locals there are reaping the benefits! Are you a Filipino? If you are then here's what I can say: " MABUTI PA ANG MGA DAYUHAN AY TINUTULUNGAN NILA NA MAI-ANGAT ANG SURFING SCENE NG CRYSTAL BEACH NGUNIT ANG ISANG PILIPINO NA TULAD NINYO NI ALONA ANG SYANG PILIT NA BINABABA AT BINABAGSAK ANG KAPWA NINYO PINOY" When I say San Antonio as a Hawaii it's because the scenery is just so picturesque. I have personally heard Hawaiian tourists and foreigners who have been in Hawaii themselves say that it's just like Hawaii. But anyway Marklucas thanks for your posts i will probably just not use the Hawaii term next time. Fellow Surfers, Thank you for reading my posts here in this forum. Starting today I won't be bragging about Zambales surfspots in this forum again. You just have to discover them yourselves. But for those criticizing us I just hope that you tell the whole picture and not just the negative parts coz there are far more positive things to say and it's always better to be positive. Thank you! Sincerely, Dodo U. Ramos

Xposer said Zambales had kickass waves,Dodo said world class. So Dodo goes from world class Zambales to Cloud 9 and gets his ass kicked. I would think that surfers used to world class waves can handle Cloud 9. That was my point, and if people see more into that, that's their "massive" problem. The 2 locals posting here have direct benefits from visiting clients. I know of a lot more locals with no net access complaining about ZSA and their clients, who crowd other spots that break better. These locals also derive no economic benefit since ZSA and their clients go on daytrips, but eat meals and sleep at crystal beach. I hardly surf Zambales, spending a lot more time in Siargao, Baler, Samar and La Union. When I do surf Zambales, I sometimes check out the beach breaks but more often than not head for the islands or protected reef spots even ZSA doesn't know about. So I really don't care if the beach breaks get crowded. I've wished Dodo all the luck in helping out his community, but just ease up on the bull.

If a surfer can handle the truly world class wave at Bells beach does that necessarily mean that they can handle Shark Island. If a surfer rips Lennox Head or J-Bay to pieces does that mean he will be a standout at Teahupoo. Not necessarily so. Dodo is promoting his area to get people to go there. That I believe is called advertising. Advertisements are always full of non truths otherwise people would not buy the products. Look at Coke ads for example they are full of beautiful people enjoying life along with the refreshing taste of the product when in reality it is a product full of sugar that will rot your teeth, it has some ingredient in it that is one of the best copper cleaners on the planet and if you drink too much of it I doubt it could be beneficial yet they don't tell you this otherwise you wouldn't buy it. If Dodo wants to promote the area and it brings in tourism dollars and doesn't f#ck up the environment or affect peoples health what's the problem. Remember it is your choice not to go there let others decide for themselves. The truth is like anywhere in the Philippines if you check out the weather conditions you will score good waves if you rely on what others tell you then you may be a little dissapointed and at least the Zambales region has other things to offer than just surfing which cannot be said for some of the better surf destinations in the country. Cheers.

Mark Lucas, I didn't say Dodo should have been a standout in Cloud 9. But if he has been surfing and living in front of world class waves as he claims, he could have at least stood up. Of course he was scared, being used to a beach break with a lot less power and size. But he'd been insisting all along that his home break is world class. I've actually talked to several of the groups Dodo's mentioned. UP swim team, a few months ago, waist high, mushy. Olin, Siargao surfers, mid last year ,small, onshore. Power-Up last June reported flat to small; volleyball was fun though. If Dodo can advertise non truths i can also report on Zambales, except I can back up my posts with specific facts. Spoonie, I'm not sure I follow your last post. Mind explaining or being more specific?

Surfing cloud 9 is a different league than surfing onshore Zambales waves. Guess Alona wanted to make the point that if someone lives so closed to a world class break (which apparently breaks sooo often perfectly) the man should make at least the take off. The reason why so many people are pissed off by the post of ZSA is that they apparently report super conditions when the waves suck. Dodo, why don't you get yourself a digicam and post pics of the surf in San Narcisso on a dayly basis ? You could promote your resort more professionally and you could stop this discussion once and forever! Kodak has a special sale of Php 9,999 for a pretty good Digicam and I am sure the hundreds of guests coming to your resort would be more than willing to chip in! Come on Dude - proove to everybody that you don't talk bullsh&t and show us how your worldclass break is pumping so often! I mean - you already exposed all the spots in the area - so with a wavecam you cannot do any further harm! ![]()

I have a few questions for the resort and business owners and the live there local surfers of the Zambales region. For the Business People Are you annoyed with Dodo using possible misleading information in his advertising of the Crystal Beach Resort. Would you like it advertised that the Zambales Region doesn't really have good waves therefore the surfers shouldn't come. For the Surfers Do you care if there are more and more surfers in the water if they are bringing money into the Zambales region. Lets let them decide after all it is where they live. Cheers ![]() The only reason I am asking this is that I am curious as to what the response would be.

Fellow surfers, My suggestion is that you personally ask about Crystal Beach Break from the people I mentioned like UP swim team, power-up, Siargao surfers, Underwater Hockey Team, etc. so you will have a firsthand and unbiased information...The Truth. As you know, if you read the "ALL POSTS" of Alona, au_surfer, and Northern Lights, it's almost 99% against Zambales. If they are the only people you listen to and read posts from then it is more likely that you will find me a liar and misleading. But I guarantee you that there are a greater number of people who knows the truth and will side with me and with what i said. Unfortunately it just seems that only a very minimal few of them are member or reading this forum. You will be meeting them anyway sooner or later coz Phil surfing circle is just too small. Fellow surfers, I am not pretending to be even a good surfer. Not even close. I am just still a beginner and perhaps will not get better than that. I surf other spots like the dreaded Cloud9 even when it's big just for fun, courage and pure adrenalin rush. However there are San Narciso locals who learned and practised surfing at Crystal Beach Break that are now making their respective names in competition surfing in the recent Lanuza Surf Comp and also in La Union; who also rips and ride tubes in Cloud9! You will meet them in other upcoming competitions as well. Prepare to meet Zambales' Best surfers: Manuel Molina, Jr, Felix "Goryo" Ancot, Jr, and Jaypee "Ping-Ping" Danila. They are still very new in the surfing scene but how can they possibly compete and even win in their heats if they haven't surfed good waves in San Narciso? Hang Loose everyone and let me be the first to greet you a "MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!! -ZSA

since when did this forum become a black-poser's board? ey "rage", if you want fights, you should go meet us all in person and say all these black-slang cow dungs going out of your head. and then we'll see how full of shit your brain is. this whole issue of pointing out other people or places' faults is not helping anyone. why cant we just let things be for anybody else? why are there people who feel too affected when somebody else try and tell on places or spots? here's one of the things ive heard... there are guys who live in manila who hated dodo for telling of spots in zamba... why are the manilenos too freaked out about people going to zamba spots? who owns these spots ba? are they there for just a few "ELITE" people or are they for every single person who appreciates them? there's definitely a big problem with people's attitudes here in the philippines. here are the few characteristics being shown in this forum by those few: 1. pakialamero - the need to have their say in everything here... the need to be the standardization body for whatever's going on in surfing in the philippines. it's like there's a sense of ownership in everything even if they dont own them all. why do they need to have their say to others' places or spots? is that coz they want to be the ones in control? or they want changes for the better? buti sana kung pagnagsalita, para mas maging maayos ang lahat. o para ma-identify ano mali.. sometimes, the issues arent really issues.... 2. insecure - people can say anything about any places they went... i just cant understand why there are people who feels offended when someone shares experiences or places or spots.. again, the only reason i can find is that these insecure beings need to be in control and cant stand the fact that we are composed of different spots and places and a lot of other people who have been given each his or her own mind to be able to think, process, decide on their own. 3. tsismoso't tsismosa - when someone does something, everybody knows and talks about it. people should get their own lives to live and think about so that they wont be talking about everybody else. 4. sakim - nobody wants to share... on the other hand, i have had experience with the locals who live just on the village along the bagasbas beach and they are not selfish coz they know they dont own the beach, that no one should own the beach.. the guys who doesnt want to share are those who dont really have close communion with the ocean or nature. here's what ive been observing: the people who doesnt want to share are those who are from the cities or somewhere else.. this may have political-agenda or business agenda in nature... but those locals... the ones who live along the beaches are really nice and friendly.... anybody can post their reactions to my posts. these are observations and may be refuted. if you can prove i am wrong, then i will stand down. ![]() chill out!

I lived and surfed in Zambales back in 1997/98/99. Since I was living in Subic I had the luxury, unlike many filipino surfers (esp those from Manila) of being able to get to the surf in about 40mins and thus surfed Zambales alot. I've had great waves there, even when comparing them to where I came from in Australia, where I have over 25 different breaks in a 15km stretch which unlike the Philipines would have surf atleast 300 days a year. Zambales gets great waves, not every day, but you have to hit it often to score. There's been alot of sledging and character assasination in the forum inrespect of Dodo, not only in this thread but numerous others. While his assertions about Zambales surf may be alittle overstated, I don't think his intentions are malicious. I meet Dodo earlier this year when I returned to the Philippines and he was very helpful and gave me the heads up on a couple of swells that I would otherwise have missed. I must admit that there were more surfers in the water than I had experienced when I was surfing there back in 97/98/99, but hey if you think the Philippines is unlike the rest of the surfing world and exempt from overcrowding then you will be sorely disappointed. So if you're discontent with Zambales surf, exercise your choice and don't go there and keep the disparaging remarks to yourself!! Rastasman

I saw that the MTV Ink mag that you are talking about., photgraphers point of view, its just an advertisment of a clothing company which is in line with surfing. What I see is that they combine all those pictures just to prove that their product is tested by nature. Like other clothing company, they use different spots and ideas to come-up with a good ads.-- I didnt mean to sound like a lecturing teacher. just an interpretation of that article. Hagobel, I would quickly retract your guarantee. Baler has just had more exposure. There are three reef breaks of good quality just near the most commonly surfed beachies in Zambales - not to mention you would be surfing them by yourself rather than with all the Baler Boys who crowd that break (and rightfully so) each and everytime it breaks. There's a left that breaks so heavy in the SW moonsoon swell that it's not my idea of fun. Turtleboy, See you in Zamba soon. Are you still after wax? Rastaman

ser reccos and ser spoonman, i think it's best if you give reasons or cite incidences why you decided to post propagandas against fluid... if they did wrong to you, you should specify them. that way, things will be clear to you and to them.. there's even a chance that they didnt know they did anything wrong to you (or to zamba) -- that's if they did anything wrong at all.... it's really best to support your claims with facts... that's if you want to settle this thing once and for all. i dont side with anyone but i know the guys from fluid and i know that i have the same cause in daet as you both do in zamba so we are in a way of the same values when it comes to that.we all surf and are enthusiastic about this community so let's try and put all things in balance so we can maintain it for a long time.... kasi, it's easier to take over anything if there's no unity. if we all continue bashing and destroying each other, there will come a time when the philippine surfing community isnt a community of local filipino surfers but of businessmen and capitalists.. there wont be any room for us with souls anymore.

Spoonman, we dont know the exact words that were said between Jorn and the local guys of Zambales, but wouldnt it be better to take it up personally with him instead of publicly throwing shit on the entire company of Fluid, here on the forum? Jorn isnt the only person heavily involved with Fluid and out of common respect, dont think it's fair that you down the entire company for his own personal actions whatever they may be.Just a thought. happy surfing, millie

dear spoon, locals, fellow surfers, Hi ,whoever you are spoonman I want to meet you in person,im sure you're one of the manila surfers who often times surf zambales .or a "local"of zambales as you said.I, don't mind you naming me in your surfers forum, but I just want to clarify things which you thought you knew but obviously dont.Well, you might be right about some facts, but before you get to air your petty stuffs you must know some real facts..i understand your compassion for your fellow zambalenos especially to dodo’s crew I have nothing against them,,I know dodo and some of the boys there pretty much.and I have also helped in solidifying the locals of some spot in zamba and am committed to continue to do so. To clarify: 1.i did something wrong to the locals of zambales?—well its not actually wrong coz why I said something to them regarding peddling all those guests to mags or to pundaquit has a mere reason to advocate what the LOCALS (DODOS CREW ARE NOT THE ONLY LOCALS OF ZAMBA BY THE WAY) thought.LOCALS OF PUNDAQUIT, are adamant to these constant touring of guests.they are not against sharing their spots to guest, but they deserve a little respect also. They asked me to tell the san narciso boys their sentiments because they know that I knew the san narciso boys better than them. 2. I know these are issues between locals of zambales hence I am NOT a local there, so I thought I am out of the issue, but I think of exposing their plight for the sake of EQUAL RESPECT BETWEEN LOCALS.sn narciso boys might not be so keen of..coz maybe of the excitement of sharing, which in fact affects some individuals especially the pundaquit locals. 3..the pundaquit boys also deserve RESPECT!...since they are ALSO LOCALS OF ZAMBALES, pundaquit,mags,timmys,mt,rp,kapons,ml,rivermouth,rp2,-these are the spots close to them ,well they are not locals of san narciso..but they don’t actually own the spots, but do you think the sn narciso boys also have to give respect?..we leave that issue to them .i did my part of voicing it out to them hoping slight decency or protocol from dodos boys to confide with the pundaquit boys and treat them as locals too. con't....

..... 4.i have nothing against DODO AND HIS CREW,whatever they thought is right for them I don’t care..i just want to share my compassion with the P. BOYZ BECAUSE I KNOW THAT WHAT THEY ARE THINKING OF HAS A BASIS OF TRUTH AND IS RIGHTEOUS.they are LOCALS OF ZAMBALES TOO,AND THESE SPOTS ARE NOT SO FAR OFF FROM THEM. FACTS:..REASONS WHY THE P.BOYZ thought they are also a local of zamba,..and hence dodo was not keen of or is keen of but don’t actually refer them as members of the "zambales surfing association". 1:surfing is not new to P.BOYZ.-1997.we first surf there, local kid "vikoy" already surfs on a body board,we leant our boards to them ,learnt to surf and he was the first local to surf..at the same time we visit and surfed dodos place,no locals surf there before..we got in touch with dodo,,help him obtain boards through surfboard donations which was organized sometime in 99,dodo learn to surf at that time.and started to create his crew..which eventually got better and better,.created their own zambales surfing association later on. 2,the P BOYZ, are not as structured and organized as per the sn narciso boys are but..they ARE LOCALS of ZAmba. so must be treated with EQUAL RESPECT... 3.I have nothing against zaldo..hes the coolest sn narciso guy to me,.manuel however has come up too hot in this issue coz of an arguement in the line up when he dropped in on me,i confronted him about it,but he insisted that he has the right way. well if he thought his a local and has a sole right to drop-in on everyone-I think he has some problem—that’s why I told him but still he insist –its not my problem anymore. 4.you hate fluid because of me?! Fluid doesn’t deserve that..im just a fraction of fluid.,I don’t even know you..if you think youre protecting the rights of some individuals in sn narciso..you must know the real thing before you cast your petty things on the forum. And I got no reason to hate you bro, and you have no idea what fluid is all about. if you have a problem with me,then settle it with me face to face so we can come up clear with it. Me and Manuel have personal issues and I have told him to clarify things but .he knows what’s best for him. So I rest my case between us. AS FOR THE COMMENT THAT FLUID PRODUCTS HAVE NO QUALITY / SUBSTANDARD—WELL, WE CANT PLEASE EVERYONE and we are not claiming anything…YOUR POINT IS TAKEN. BUT I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR YOU BRO..ASK 90 % OF THE LOCAL SURFERS / NATIONWIDE, THE ONES THAT LIVE ON THE BEACH, THE ONES THAT SURF BETTER WAY BETTER..MORE AGGRESSIVELY, MORE FREQUENTLY THAN YOU, ASK THE TOP 12 OF THE PHILIPPINE SURFING SCENE (do you even know them),THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE AND BREATH SURFING. THE PEOPLE FLUIDSURF HAS SUPPORTED FOR THE LAST 6-7 YEARS, THE INDIVIDUALS THAT WE SUPPORTED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.. I GUESS LONG BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCHED A REAL SURFBOARD. LONG BEFORE THIS FORUM HAS BEEN FOUNDED.. ASK THE AUSTRALIANS, THE JAPANESE, AMERICANS ETC. WHO ARE ADVOCATES OF ADVANCING THE PHILIPPINE SURF SCENE..ASK THE LOCALS BRO..ASK THEM AND TELL ME WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.. WELL..REGARDLESS OF SOME PEOPLE SAY AGAINST FLUIDSURF..THIS COMPANY IS COMMITTED TO THE CORE IN SUPPORTING THE LOCAL SURFING SCENE IN ALL ITS PARTS AND SUB PARTS / / BECAUSE ITS ALL THAT MATTERS TO US: WHAT THE LOCALS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT FLUIDSURF. WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE ONLY TO THEM AND THE PHILIPPINE SURFING SCENE...FLUIDSURF BRO..WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT IS HERE TO STAY..AND ITS GONNA GET BETTER AND STRONGER FOR THE LOCAL SURFING SCENE..FLUIDSURF IS FOR THE LOCALS AND THE LOCAL SURFING SCENE..ALWAYS HAS BEEN..AND ALWAYS WILL BE.. regards, Edsel Pabon / Bjorn Pabon –founder: FLUID INDUSTRIES.. con't....

...... 5.I am bjorn pabon,as an individual I have nothing to do with the surf forum other thn this post I am submitting now and I will not be submitting anymore posts after this.True,im a surfer who resides and works in manila, but im not a manilenio..i have nothing against DODO ( I know him personally), san narciso boys, manuel or zaldo,or zambales surfing association.i am not patronizing zambales as a world class wave either nor condemning them as not!.- I surf zambales too.. A LOT more than any other spots.it has been my second best surf desti, I have nothing against locals, you have no idea what we are trying to do to help them in their surfing,I am not a member of your forum,so pls don’t misjudge me of the thoughts that I am one of the manilenios whos keeping zambales to everyone,I just surf..but I don’t advertise either,I believe in the principles of the search. 6.i am sorry if the local sn narciso boyz where disturbed by my accusations to them,,I just did what I thought and the P.BOYZ thought is equally righteous…but I left the issue up to them already for a long time now, ”locals for locals”, 7.just a suggestion to, with all the respect to the zamba crew, dodo ramos, you know that you and your crew are zamba locals----so as the P -.boyz .you want respect then give respect.8.as for you..spoon..i admire your deep sympathy with the locals, but you need to back up your accusations 9.thank you very much..goodluck with the forum,I think it depicts its purpose. Some people I know live up to it through the roots, but a portion of this forum just want to make noise for the sake of it.RESPECT. *..few more things.. The feature on MTV mag is not an advertisement.. FLUIDSURF does not advertise. -The people at MTV mag came to us and asked us if we could help them in their "fashion" and "how to" sections for that issue. Who are we to turn them down? -It is not a documentary or an article so the spots or places depicted in them may or may not be mentioned.. THANKS AGAIN...STAY STOKED! BJORN PABON

Well put Bjorn if it is true. One question though. You wrote the following 9.thank you very much..goodluck with the forum,I think it depicts its purpose. Some people I know live up to it through the roots, but a portion of this forum just want to make noise for the sake of it.RESPECT. What does that mean. What are the roots we are supposed to live up to. Surfing is a sport and because it is relatively cheap and a lot of fun it has taken off. I don't understand this "roots" business. We honestly don't think that surfing has some divine meaning in life, a tradition dating back centuries or is there to serve some mythical purpose in life. The majority of people who surf do it because they enjoy it, others because they make money from it no other reason I wouldn't think. Just my thoughts. ![]() Don't let the localism thing get out of hand it serves no purpose to anyone. Travelling surfers have no local.

Heya Mark! trip was crazy good...9 months of chaos&calm wasnt long enough Arrived in Sydney and rang my mum crying my head off...babbling that I didnt want to be here(Oz),I wanted to go back to the Philippines ASAP and she replied with "YOU'RE NOT EVEN IN BLOODY BRISBANE YET!"..haha.Its nice to be in Oz na,but I miss my friends and family in the P.I. so much already, not to mention the country itself...HAY NAKU!Are you getting any surf down south? There's been nothing here except strange winter-like weather and mush.North Coast New South Wales got solid, clean 8ft about a week or so ago. I think maybe the "roots" thing Jorn is referring to is just the act of going out and surfing, pure and simple I guess. Not to be a mega-bitch,but there are a lot of people in Manila (and around the world too)who surf once and never again, but claim they are surfers because of the "cool" factor. The popularity of surfing within mainstream society is increasing in the Philippines and since its such a unique experience,I guess theres a few individuals who are just trying to jump on the bandwagon and talk a lot of smack for the sake of image. But,I think it's a given...its been happening for so long all over the world and will always be there. If it remains just talk and image,it doesnt really do any harm,as long as you as an indivdual are out there surfing whenever you can and enjoying it in the process then none of this other bullshit should matter should it? Anyways, stepping off the podium na.haha. HAPPY SURFING! millie ![]()

whatever the "roots" is, i believe surfing didnt have its roots (or started) in the philippines..... hehehe.. unless there's some guy here who's got an ancestor in the philippines, who can claim it started here by some reason... ![]() to me roots doesnt have anything to do with surf... roots is where a person got opened to the environment other than his own home.. it's where we started to grow.... my roots is in daet coz that's where i grew.. that's where i learned most of the things i need to learn while growing up.... we migrated to laguna after 10+ years but my blood still tells me to go back there when ive made myself up... it just so happen that when i got interested in surfing and wanted to surf LU, i found out that daet's also a surf spot... so.. "back to my roots" it is.... ![]()

Bjorn hi! Please allow me to reply to your posts. Solidify the locals of some spot in Zambales? I call it pure ¡°LOCALISM¡±! What you did was brainwashed them and turned them into selfish surfers. You taught them your sentiments and saw to it that it become theirs as well. You destroyed the solidity and unity of zambales when you turned them into a separate local within a locality. You divided us into small locals. You introduced localism in pundaquit plain and simple and thanks to you coz it¡¯s paying off. You can now hear from their very lips the words ¡°locals¡±, ¡°respect¡±, ¡°secret spots¡±, ¡°crowded¡± etc. These words and their meanings were unfamiliar to them before you got into the picture. When you say ¡° san narciso boys also have to give respect?...I did my part of voicing it out to them hoping slight decency or protocol from dodos boys to confide with the pundaquit boys¡¦¡±, what you really did was divide us and make us fight against each other. What you told Manuel and Zaldo hurt us a lot for both San Narciso and San Antonio surfers because now we are divided. They would now even smear at us when we go visit their places. They have become solid locals separate and now different from any other local of zambales. You are very wrong in doing that and instilling Localism in their simple minds. . If that¡¯s your ¡°basis of truth¡± and what you think is ¡°righteous¡± so be it but please don¡¯t make them your converts. And if you are committed in continuing localism in zambales then it will be my mission to go against it. You are the root wherein all these divisions are taking place so even if you are not a local you are not out of the issue. As a matter of fact you are the issue. We are now working on building the bridges once again. Surfers from San Antonio and the ¡°locals of pundaquit¡± have now started surfing in San Narciso and other spots, eat together, hang out and play billiards, etc. We lend them our surfboards and vise versa. We are re educating them and the new surfers to erase localism and focus on sharing and pure fun. We tell them that we are not to compete with each other, etc., etc., etc. It¡¯s a difficult task but I think were moving forward. Even when we ZSA started we always see to it that anyone from Zambales is a local that is why nobody as in nobody has ever felt localized by our association. They are very welcome in San Narciso and we are very welcome in their surf towns as well. ¡¦cont¡¯¡¦

That is why I am very much taken aback when suddenly harsh statements from you to Manuel and others, which you commandedly told them not to share zambales surf spots to others, were voiced out. I never told the locals of pundaquit that they are not or cannot be part of ZSA¡¦somebody else did and created a thick wall between us and analyzing your message, I think it was you. I do really mind when you call san narciso surfers as dodo¡¯s crew or dodo¡¯s boys or what because I or we never did call it that and when you call us that then you are starting to divide the zambaleno surfers. You are destroying us and making us fight among ourselves. I never called them dodo¡¯s crew or crystal beach surf club or anything but I called it Zambales Surfing Association so as to unify the whole zambales surfing scene and not divide it. ZSA was formed to everyone and any surfer from Zambales with no limitations as to what Town or locality of zambales are you from. It was a Province-wide approach that is why the People of Zambales themselves see us not as surfers from San Narciso alone but from Zambales. As a matter of fact it was even surfer Vincent Magsaysay Liwanag of San Antonio Zambales himself who supported us in one of the competitions in La Union. I can name a lot of surfers from san Antonio whom we share waves with each other respectively without any territorial attitudes. But when you began to solidify a small group of what you call as ¡°LOCALS OF PUNDAQUIT/ PUNDAQUIT BOYS¡±¡¦LOCALISM ALSO BEGAN TO CREEP INTO THEIR SYSTEM. My honest analysis is you made them into ¡°FLUID BOYS¡± making them loyal to you and not to their fellow zambalenos. You taught them respect but respect within the context of pure LOCALISM. You made your locals turn against me and the other zambaleno surfers. LOCALISM IS THE NO.1 THING WE DIDN¡¯T WANT TO HAPPEN TO ZAMBALES BUT DISAPPOINTINGLY BJORN YOU MADE IT HAPPEN. ¡¦cont¡¯¡¦

FACT IS that Zambalesnos just want to have fun and share waves not only among zambalenos ourselves but also to Manilenos like you that is why remember the very first time you surfed Zambales you contacted me and I gave you information regarding Pundaquit and I even showed you the way going there, the place, the breaks, the waterfalls, the magic left reef break, etc. There were no local surfboard surfers in zambales then except me. I was already surfing in Zambales while ¡°vikoy¡± was bodyboarding. Remember we had so much fun and stoke. I also showed ¡°rtt¡± the magicleft reef break of pundaquit and it was his very first time to surf it with me and we just had fun! We shared Zambales to you¡¦ I was just wondering¡¦ WHY CAN¡¯T YOU SHARE IT TO OTHERS AS WELL? Or at least tell the locals to share their break to others. Or have you ever told a local surfer of zambales to hey share your waves?! Or have you ever put the word ¡°zambales¡± in any of your Fluid products and advertisements? You should be the first one to promote Zambales so that Tourism will flourish in that area and create more jobs and improve economy. So you admit that you organized a small group of locals in Pundaquit and started with Vikoy and others followed because there were no surfers there before so you said THEREFORE you are also the one who started LOCALISM in ZAMBALES. ¡¦cont¡¯¡¦

Australian donation of boards were meant to be given to poor Local Surfers in their specific local provincial surf spots and not to Manila surfers who are can affords?and doesn't have a local surf spot. Out of the multiple donations of Surfboards from Australia, Zambales was given only 2 boards from the first donation and none from the 2nd donation but Olin Duaso during the 2nd donation since he knew that zambales got none gave us 1 board that he got from a Baler Boy. Third donations, etc. Zambales got zero board. But if you happen to ask how many boards from Australian donations went to Manila Surfers , who were at that time to my knowledge was lead by Bjorn of Fluid, you will be amazed that those boards were quite a number. Just a question: Were those boards supposed to be for Zambales? Everytime San Narciso surfers and ZSA surfers join comps in La Union, Siargao, Lanuza, etc it's just "Zambales" and that includes the whole province we carry and represent and not San Narciso, not Dodos crew, Not Crystal Beach, etc. When you say that you know me and the other boys pretty much. Sorry but I don't think you do. We just met very few times. and I don't think I know you that pretty much either. I have to speak up because my name has been mentioned much too often and I just have to set some records straight. Reading your posts have revealed and confirmed a lot of things to me. But never worry coz you are still very much welcome to surf Zambales. In some way or the other I still believe that you have helped Surfing in Zambales and I thank you for that. I have never Forgotten that my very first boardshort was a FLUID! gift from you. Tnx! Have fun! Life is cool! Sincerely, Dodo U. Ramos

come to think of it... this localism bullshit.. those people who doesnt want to share their spots... they remind me of gollum.... of smeagol.... your preciousssss.... you want your "ring" all to yourself.... you're being eaten by greed... your mind has been corrupted... but dont worry there's a cure to that sickness.... and it starts with being open-minded human being who still uses the functionalities of the mind... ![]() come on you guys.. those who want to have the spots all to themselves..... if you can stay there forever without touching a single soil in manila or in any other land or surf spots other than yours.. i'd respect your decision of not sharing your hole... just make sure you dont come down from your provinces to any other places... even your local town proper.... im sure im not alone in this view... and i believe if you do that, you'll still be healthy.. there's plenty of spaces for you to plant fruits and vegetables, and raise livestocks.... you'll be able to create your own 'customized' boards from woods without the help of those outside of your vicinity... you'll learn to survive and create your own tribe... it's like restarting what started in hawaii ages ago... when surfing has been discovered.... except that you'll be better when you start coz you already had a lot of years of experience shared by other people to you when you start.... it's fun to create that kind of tribe, aint it? ![]() on the other hand, i believe everyone is entitled to all the spots all over the philippines... for no one owns the ocean... just as no one owns any mountains in the philippines that mountaineers climb.... but in the same sense as climbing, we should all respect the ocean... and the locals.... and not take advantage of them... there are locals who doesnt even know how to speak english or read or write.. much more post in the forum..... but even so, they are still humans and still need to be respected -- and should be respected even more than the ocean or any other things in the world coz they are human beings... respect is a given and should be given to all beings... humans or otherwise... let's use but dont abuse. cheers y'all! what's happening in this forum is good because we are weeding out what we see as bad habits or attitudes.... just as i said to another surfer earlier, i believe if we all just put our minds and heart to it as serious as we can, we can change our stars.... we can start something new.... a surf culture that's philippine-brewed. ![]() stop the greed... stop the hate.... stop the 'im better than you' sickness... stop the "im hardcore you're not" attitudes... and just respect.. amen.

The accusation that Jorn instilled localism is, frankly, absurd. I've surfed in Zambales numerous times but have never witnessed or even heard of heated arguments, much less physical violence. There is more animosity between factions within LU, Baler or Daet from what I've observed. I've been with surfers from San Narciso, Pundaquit, Baretto, surfing all together and the vibe is much better than a crowded weekend sesh in Mona Liza, when a lot of the surfers don't know each other. In fact, the most "violent" thing i've seen was when a Pundaquit local stormed off the beach because another Pundaquit guy was hogging a communal board. But talk about localism, dude. Last week i paddled out at Pipe, dropped in on Sunny, and now I'm back here typing with my nose. I think the perceived hostility that the San Narciso boys get happens when they bring in new faces or guests. But this is understandable. Locals, non-locals, groms, rippers, your lolos and lolas will not light up in joy and wave when a group of strangers paddle in. And another group the next weekend. So yes maybe some will "smear" or sneer, not sure what Dodo was saying exactly. But aside from that and a drop-in argument that happens everywhere (except maybe in the utopian surf world that Shadow's trying to achieve) Dodo in his 3 page post did not back up his assertion that Jorn instigated and preached localism. Not a single instance of localism was pointed out, yet Dodo thinks Jorn "brainwashed" Pundaquit locals with "simple minds" to wage localism (Pundaquit locals are far from simple-minded, you should see them put the moves on Manila babes) It sounded more like a crazed exorcism, but anyone who knows Jorn will vouch that the most evil thing about him is his dreads (: About the boards, yes 3 boards were alloted and meant for the Manila group that was then the only active club in regional events. Eventually all 3 boards were donated to the Pundaquit locals, along with 2 personal boards. Yes that was a good sesh long ago, Dodo. But no, that wasn't my first time in Zambales, I hooked up with Shawn and the Baretto boys way before that. You may claim Crystal beach is world class, but i and every surfer who know him will find it hard to believe Jorn is a world class war monger. Dodo, that was a good one! Much better than my lame Pipe joke. Seriously, Dodo, we've worked together on an important project before that makes all this miniscule in comparison. Try to concentrate on that and let this issue rest a bit. Lighten up. Pretty soon we'll have a good sesh again, and look back on this and laugh our heads off. I know this island where all these f**ckin buggers can't drop in on us... Compared to LU (fisticuffs, forced deportation, campfire zealotry), Daet (girlfriend swiping, brawls, embezzlement, wave height appraisal) , Baler (murderous debate about first Pinoy ever to surf, cemento parking, missing palengke funds) or Siargao (might exceed Dodo's 3 pages), Zambales surfing is practically a love fest. Give em time and they'll get to those levels themselves, even without Jorn's psy-ops, or even with Dodo's community work. It's called , uhm, life. This is getting too long. I propose that from hereon, each word posted in this thread be paid 1 peso by the writer. This will go to the anti-localism fund. Or to construct Shadow's Surf Utopia Commune. Starting now.

Hey Millie we are just getting wind swell around 5 feet but its onshore and messy. As soon as the first cyclones come and push some swell down here the better. The place I like to surf the most starts firing up during January - March or April. Did you surf Puraran when you were in the PI. I just want to know how everone is it has been an eternity since I was last there. One thing about localism guys. Locals with attitude are not acceptable and if you are one then don't be too dissappointed if people put shit on you when you visit their local. Surfers with bad attitudes normally take that attitude with them when they travel and are not too hard to pick out. You know the guy that is always dropping in or the guy that constantly stares at everyone out at the break but doesn't try to communicate with anyone. Hey RTT what's this all about. Baler (murderous debate about first Pinoy ever to surf, cemento parking, missing palengke funds) Chill out everyone nip the localism thing in the bud or as Shadow says - stay at your local and don't ever leave it. After all you wouldn't want to broaden your outlook on life would you. If anyone wants to donate surfboards to underpriviledged surfers in the PI then donate them personally otherwise if you give them to an organization they will probably be handed out to friends of that organization.

whoaaaaa, this is getting now a bit out of control... I surfed the mentioned breaks a couple of times and have been treated very nicely by the local surfers (never surfed Christal Beach though coz everytime I looked at it, it was not good). We need to be aware that localism will happen once the number of surfers on any given spot increases. Apart from being very inconsistent the zambales spots are prone to this problem because they can only accomodate a limited number of surfers. Once you have more than 10 guys out there, the "fighting" for the waves and the drop ins are (unfortunately) unavoidable. Therefore I am afraid that anybody who agressively advertises certain surfspots is responsible for increasing localism. That's why I never understood why ZSA so openly advertises surf spots which are rather far away from their Christal Beach Break. (I still believe ZSA is doing that solely to get guests into their resort and generate profits.) Peace Northern Lights

hi rtt... hehehe...... maybe we should redirect the fund to your utopian commune since you were the one who keeps talking about it.. i dont think there's any definite, one-sided utopia but i believe that there should be peace and respect no matter where or what you do.. if you see that life isnt about that, then it's your belief and if you're happy that way for the rest of your life, then you will die happy... and that's what matters, right? at least that's what i think.. and believe... i think utopia is a state of mind.anyway, this whole thing between fluid and dodo and spoonman didnt even start there... it started when people started bashing other people here in the forum.... but come to think of it, that's life, right? there will be those who will bash and there will be those who will defend... there will be fights and there will be peace.. i will keep on wanting peace and respect and there will be others who will have grin smeared on their faces to every words i say... there will be those who believe, and those who wont.... black or white, good or bad.. they all make our world more colorul... and we're all bound to end... so let's just enjoy the ride. peace man. if you are who i think you are, i still havent forgotten the favor you did when you brought me the wax from kathy two summers ago in daet. thanks again for it.

Roots!!!! For me just being free. Free to discover yourself -- freeing out the child in you. Free to understand nature, just being one with it. Just you, the wave and scenery infrom of you. Understanding the moods of the ocean and its soul. By doing it, you will know that it has so much to give than what we expect. Reading the thread makes be curious about the fluid product. I bought some and tried it. Nice fit and the design great. It doesnt only give you quality but also cheaper. By the way Bjorn, my apology if I conclude the article in the mtv ink as an advertisement. But in a lighter side, i really enjoy reading it. As a surfer -- informative. Basic of surfing. As a photographer, it was an art. Good perception. Your product, the scenery and models -- intertuine with each other. An eye catching. Anyway, goodluck with your company, continue supporting the local surfers. I really recommend it to all. Try it. Don't stop exploring yourself and the art of surfing. stop fighting, let us all spread the art of surfer, respect mother earth and each other. Enjoy surfing guys.

For those visiting Zambales please check out our newly opened Surf Factory. You might want to buy your first or next surfboard handshaped by a Pro-surfer here i Zambales. You can also personalize your board with your own design, dimensions, etc. Thanks!
