RT glad to see that something is happening about our friend in Borongan. At least we know the email the President thing works. Keep the pressure on and the problem will disappear.
Milly we have had that southerly blowing for three days now and still its flat. Probably had a lot to do with the massive souwester blowing all day Sunday. Looks like there is swell marching up the coast so you will probably see some of that. Notice you have had your status downgraded to newbie. grin huh tongue
Cheers

Surf pumping over here again. Cronulla point was 6' last night. You getting any waves up north Milly or are you back in the PI. I will probably be in PI next month if all goes well. Might catch up with you Al for a drink in Manila if you want. Unfortunately I cant disclose the surfing location I will be heading to but there are a couple of photos in the waves section called Lihim Right and left so if you know where they are then I may see one of you there. Hope you are all getting waves. Looks like you had some classic waves during the comp in Siargo last month. We have just come off a 6 week flatspell thought I was still in the Philippines. Any way cheers hope the swells pumping and the crowds are down. grin smiley wink

Hey Al hows your reef surfing. Do you think if you can get me drunk enough you wont be drunk enough to remember it. I will disclose the spots when I am too old to surf anymore or when the locals feel they are ready for a surf invasion. Funny place to have such good surf and no local surfers. Seek and ye shall find. If we have a drink together I will give you a couple of cryptic clues to set you on your way.
Sssssshhh  huh grin
If anyone out there has seen Mark Lawless can you let him know that I may be coming over. I will leave a message at the Birdwatchers with Ricky and I will try and contact John Humble in Angeles and leave a message with him to let him know of my plans. Apreciate it if someone can let him know.

Hey Al good to see you have finally become a surf pioneer. Pity the surf wasnt up to it but hey wasnt the trip worthwhile. Next time you should catch the bus and ride on trikes you will really get the true spirit of adventure. Next time if you have a few days to spare try the Polilio Islands Im sure you wont be disappointed. Keep the dream alive
Cheers

Millie I wouldnt suggest going to Catanduanes in December. Except for the slight possibility of getting waves in Virac or Twin Rocks the winds are going to be onshore on the East coast which rules out waves at Majestics unless you wanna surf it onshore. Camarines area has plenty of waves but thats probably onshore as well. Samar is possibly your best choice or then again you could surf Lanuza or Jelly Point.
Al theres no problem tripping around using the local means of travel. Most of the time you get there just as quick and at least you have a local driving you around who probably has more of a clue to where the waves are. I have found a few places with the help of a local trike driver
Cheers.

Al what way is the wind blowing
Just finished checking that Navy website and looks like you guys are getting plenty of swell. If you were to find say a point thats out of the wind Im sure your gonna find waves down in Qeuzon. Any way looks like only the east coast of Oz is waveless at the moment.
Cheers

Hey Al you need to get sick for a day or two and head over there. If ever it is going to get waves now looks to be the time. I dont know what the weathers like over there but you sure got some swell. Anyone sitting on their local with offshore winds at the moment must be having the time of their lives. I know a place that would be pumping at the moment.
Hope your all getting barrelled.
Cheers.

Al hope you get well real soon. Jim good idea asking the Bankeros. The only thing stopping good waves would be the depth of the water. If you can get yourselves a good marine map of the area you will know where to look. We used to hunt up Naval maps of certain areas and then when the Philippine road map came out we could cross reference areas and see if the spots were anywhere near roads. If you ever go to Majestics you will find that their road atlas has a few pages missing.
Cheers.

Lets not forget all the Filipinos who all died on that plane as well. It should not take the deaths of foreigners to bring this to our attention. My condolences go out to the families of all the victims. Unfortunately with cost cutting throughout the world and a decline in Tourism to certain countries we will probably and unfortunately see more and more accidents of this type happen throughout the world. Dont let things like these unfortunate accidents or these henious acts of terror that are happening at the moment deter you from travelling and surfing. Life is a risk live it as best you can.
Cheers
PS  Yep I am not writing this in disrespect for you so please dont think that I am.

I have seen rideable waves at Matabunkay and Puerto or Sabang so I would be certain that Lubang would have swell. I never went to Lubang because there are more waves on the east coast but for you guys in Manila it certainly is another option. Try the coastline from Nagsubu to Calatagan and you might score.
Cheers.
Finally we have some waves how about you Millie.

I have a seven foot channel bottom thruster that anyone can have if they can pay the freight from Australia. Good for barrelling reef breaks up to ten feet. Would not be any good for La Union. If you know someone in Sydney I will give it to them to send to you. Its old but in good condition. Let me know if interested. I could possibly get it to Manila but if I am going there I will have my own boards so 3 would be too much of a hassle. Let me know if you are interested. Walang Pera. Want it to go to a Pinoy who will use it that is the only stipulation.
Cheers
You shouldnt have to pay 7 or 8 thousand for a second hand board thats way too much.

Millie a return to the 80's fishtails and twin fins. Now thats a concept. Post a pic when the boards finished and let us see the results. If I ever get the garage cleaned out then I will be making myself a new board. It is unbelievable what they ask for boards these days and we are in one of the cheapest countries to buy them. Hope this coming week brings an early cyclone swell for you up on the coast.
Cheers

Millie its flat again here but looks like something in the 3 to 4 metre mark is coming our way this Friday. Hope the winds offshore. Its been like almost a year since the swells have hit the ten foot plus band around here. My new 7 footer is finally going to get in the water. Hope it gets to your neck of the woods as well. I will take a few pics of my local if its pumping and try and post them on this site. I dont really know how to attach pics everytime I have tried it is a failure.
Stacey you watch out for the perverts over there. They are not only 60 year old foreigners I know a few Pinoys that would have you ducking for cover if you came across them. Dont stress to much there are enough good filipinos in the country to make sure you stay out of trouble. Dont believe what you read in the newspapers if they didnt print that garbage then no one would read them.
Hope its pumping where you are its certainly going to be over here in the next day or two.
Cheers

Wow you guys really like hunting in packs dont you. Probably safer that way. Listen Al I will definitely be going to Majestics in June / July so hone your surfing skills and tag along if you want. No nightlife except gin drinking though.
Millie the swells heading your way even Agnes Waters is probably going to get waves in the next few days. This is one mother of a swell to go with the massive fires that are ringing Sydney at the moment. Dont think the grub you met in Manila is the same one. He's to paranoid to leave the Goldie.
Stacey just tell em the truth and bring one of your cousins along as a chaperone so that they feel comfortable with you venturing out into the big bad Philippines. Dont spin though nothing is going to happen to you. Those guys that hassled Millie in Davao are not a common occurance and as I said before there are enough good intentioned Filipinos to help you out.
Millie I cant believe you freaked and jumped on a jeepney. Just scream rape as load as you can next time and people will come from everywhere to see whats happening. You only get yourself into trouble in the Phillies if you start it yourself or you go to the Jolo / Sulu area. I bet the surf pumps down there and all the kidnappings and stuff are the locals way of keeping the crowds down. Ha ha
When your in Baler make sure you surf Cementos or your gonna miss all the fun.
Anyway im surfing in the morning I will let you know how good it is tomorrow. Im stoked.
Cheers

I will suss it out and if my mate is going over in January I will get him to take it up there or leave it with my mate in Manila for you to pick it up. As I said before though it wont be any good at LU. Channel bottom boards are mainly for surfing barrels with and unfortunately LU doesnt have too many of them.
Cheers

Hey Sponj I hope you will be surfing before the end of the year. My wife and kids will be in the Phillies around the end of the year so I might send them up there to stay at the Hacienda and you can give the kids a lesson Millie. I am a bit too harsh on them I make them paddle out the back to try to learn. They are not too impressed about the wipeouts.
Sorry to see the poor quality surf you all got for the contest but hey it is the Philippines isnt it. We are now into our 4th month of hardly anything happening so its not too good over here either.
Happy surfing

Millie I just sent Sponj a board and the airfreight to Manila is only $2.50 a kilo which is probably a lot less than the excess baggage cost. I can give you the address of a very trustworthy mate in Manila who can hold onto them for you until you arrive if the baggage cost is too high. I dont know how reliable the company is I sent the board through but Sponj will let me know if he received it. I sent it all the way to La Union but it is more than double the cost of Australia - Manila the trip Manila - La Union. I know they are a good company for money transfers. Just a thought if it is going to be costly for you. The unfortunate thing about dads surf lessons is that dad usually gets p***ed off having to wallow in the shorie so the kids either come out the back or sit on the beach. Call me callous but thats life. wink
