On my last trip to Bataan with the ferry from Manila I learnt that they have also now direct ferries to Lubang Island. Lubang could catch some NE or SW swell and the idea to just drive to Roxas Blv, hopp on a ferry in Manila and go straigth to the surf is for Manila based surfers very appealing...

Anybody ever been to Lubang Island and have seen surfable waves there ?

I have seen rideable waves at Matabunkay and Puerto or Sabang so I would be certain that Lubang would have swell. I never went to Lubang because there are more waves on the east coast but for you guys in Manila it certainly is another option. Try the coastline from Nagsubu to Calatagan and you might score.

nope...nothing really.Did u hear about/see the surf in Tasmania at the moment?hmm..can't surf right now anyways..but I've just started boardshaping..SOOOOO....if any of u ever need a custom board..hit me back!..but maybe not just yet!hahaha..still learning I'm halfway through this fish board.Kinda similar to the old Rusty Hipsters you know?Twin fin,swallow tail with a few modern day modifications...trying to experiment..add a bit of variety you know!?

Millie a return to the 80's fishtails and twin fins. Now thats a concept. Post a pic when the boards finished and let us see the results. If I ever get the garage cleaned out then I will be making myself a new board. It is unbelievable what they ask for boards these days and we are in one of the cheapest countries to buy them. Hope this coming week brings an early cyclone swell for you up on the coast.

Yeh..the 80's is making a revival in my life

The prices of boards are pretty hefty these days.There's still a few shapers around who don't contend with the commerical side of it and can keep their prices considerably low.Majority of the time you're just paying for the popularity of the BRAND.The guy that I'm shaping for,his boards are around..for a custom it's about 300-400bucks.Straight out plane shape board is 300 and for a mal around 400-500.He also makes wakeboards,kiteboards and landsailers.He does minimal advertising,it's nearly all word of mouth,but his business is going psycho!!!There's orders from retailers and private buyers from all around Oz and Japan.

I checked with the boys on the coast this morning and they said that theres a tiny bit of swell at A-Bay...so hopefully it will start to increase cos everyones going insane here!

Hey Serbi, any details on how long the ferry takes (and its' sked).  Or the phone# or even just the name of the ferry company. I've been to Lubang many years ago when I crewed for a sailboat. On our way to Palawan we dropped anchor at Lubang, no swell then but nice beaches and forest cover.

The boat supposedly leaves at the port closed to the Philippine Cultural Center along Roxas Blv. where also the fast ferry to Bataan (Orion) departs. When I go to Bataan next time will try to get some details. I would guess it takes about 4-5 hours to get to Lubang Island (depending on the kind of boat they are using....)
