i heard  that one of the ULGY naked kids..WON the LA UNION open..his name is BERNIE..there was a time i wanted to kill him coz he loves to drop in  

well these bunch of kids..started surfing almost same time as me..they surf with their over sized boardshort and they are 95 % buttnaked,they love to drop in..so freakin LOUD in the line up..so damn annoying..hence,,i started calling them ""UGLY NAKED KIDS""..ehehehe...

am a local there too..i was  born there actually..and i dont hate them..the "ugly naked kids" thing was somtin i came up wit to describe these kids( iwas kinda being funny)..well if u find it offensive..my apologies..ehehehe..

  i know these kids more than anyboady here,,and am proud that one of the "UNK's" took the LU cup...ehehe

hacienda was a bit expensive when we rented out  a room there..P1200..we decided  to had a reservation at Se bay instead..for 800 ..wit tv..not bad..

  i saw a  couple of campers/weekenders when we were there..and it  looks cool to camp out

alvino obusan tried to shape some boards..i saw it myself.and i saw it break in half..pretty ok board but not of best quality,..

Before considering buying a locally made board think about this. Anyone can make a board but only a select crew can make a board that works. You will usually find the best and most experienced board shapers in the countries that have established surfing communities. Surfing is relatively new to the Philippines in the sense that it has only been the last 5 or 6 years that there have been a growing number of Filipino surfers. Unfortunately the experience has not yet matured in the Philippines to the extent that is required for board shaping. Remember the best board shapers are usually (not always) very good surfers and their experience comes out in their design. What I am trying to say is that if you want to invest 15-20000 pesos on a stick then wouldnt it be better to buy one from someone who has the experience vision and expertise to manufacture something that will work. I am not condeming Pinoy shapers as only through trial and error will they achieve that experience. The best option would be for someone with talent to be sponsored by a board shaper in Australia or the States so they can learn the trade as was done with a few Balinese surfers during the 80's and 90's. Someone with the talent should beg Millie for help. She has the contacts the energy and the lust to help out Pinoy surfers. (sorry to drop you into it Millie)  
Surf report 1 foot crap great conditions but no swell. Saw on the tele the Gold coast pumping that sandbank stretching from Greenmount to Kirra looks insane. Hows the swell in you neck of the woods Millie hope its better than ours.

dislocated my shoulder 2 months ago..started surfing again 2 weeks..twas a major bummer..

originally from DAet..where the Philippine's first competition was held(or is it?hehe)but now in HK..surfed LU twice ...

sad but true..sharks are  more prey than predators..especially in the BIcol area where i grew up..they serve "kinunot"on a daily basis..and they even do dolphins and sting rays..no wonder theres no shark attacks..

surfed on a winter monsoon..overhead but dumpy  and shallow..i got caught by a solid face and no way out..went up against the wall but too late..landed upside down and almost broke my neck...

there  is ..for sure..but probably they are not raised here locally..for instance HAWAII..did u guys know dat the governor of HAWAII is a filipino?and theres more filipinos than americans(from  the mainland)in th state island?hmmm..prety cool  huh?its like here in HK..there are more filipinos than westerners (ozzies,americans,brits)all combined..

surfing in daet started as early 80's..the first locals were michael de guzman and owen andrade..they are in thieir late 30s..i  remember there was this french guy who built a pizza house infront of the beach..and thats were ALVINOS pizza is right now..

megan is half..dustin cuizon is 100%..sunny is half i guess..and millie is half Oz and half fili  and fulltime B..hehehe JK millie..
