  From davao,ALoha!strange,June is the starting swells from davao coast,we surf from the tiniest wave to surfable wave.Too bad siargao is a bit far from us.Me and three of my mate went off the beach when there's a good swell out there.Most of the davawenyos wondered why we carry those boards.hehehe!HAPPY surfing!

You should have seen us in 1984 when we first travelled there. Some people thought we had weapons in our board bags. Hardly anyone had ever seen a surfboard no one could figure out what it was for. We had some funny experiences trying to get them onto planes and buses.

that's hilarious how people from the mts (baguio) thought that the boards were strange things. I remember growing up in the 80's and not seeing anyt surfers around. any idea as to when surfing became popular in the Philippines, especially in La union?

surfing in daet started as early 80's..the first locals were michael de guzman and owen andrade..they are in thieir late 30s..i  remember there was this french guy who built a pizza house infront of the beach..and thats were ALVINOS pizza is right now..

o man...   thats too hilarious... this aint a cat fight. its a surf forum where u can say your opinions. I just think its funny the way u talk cuz its such a crusher way to talk! almost all crushers come out of cali, form my experience.
And marklucas: always been into it but it wasnt popular back then when i lived there. Finally got enough money to buy myself a surfboard booties, wetsuit, rack and everything to go out there. I surf in shitty choppy days. BUt im still out there even if i get destroyed. F the crushers. thank god i dont talk like one. "SURFS UP DUDES!!!!!" so lame! I dont sit at home and think of surfing. I GO OUT SURFING!!!! alone or with friends. If u really are into surfing get off your ass and get out there and stop talking like a surfer.

wait... actually not done: so this is a little ps: (so NB): The only way u can learn how to surf is to go out there and do it on your own! It doesnt really do any good to go meet people to talk about surfing. it does good to actually do it. No excuses. If u dont have a board go get one. If there's no swell where you are at, go drive and find yourself an effin swell.
The thing that really should be talked about when it comes to surfing is where to find surf, your size of board and where to get a decent shaper to shape u a board. I am not claiming myself expert to anything cuz I've only been surfing for a year and a half, but instead of talking, through experience can i only really say anything about surfing! and if you're a grom learning then its good to ask questions but to have an image and try to talk like one, you just look like a kook!
The people in this forum that are real surfers like petrucci that i've talked to away from this forum does not talk like a typical "surfer dude" from cali... he's all about surf! << just giving a good example. and the other chic that posted a message i wish i could remember her name , but this girl is pretty real.

hi can anyone advise me, im planning on a surf trip in la union on november, to learn how to surf of course, can anybody tell me where's the best place to surf for beginners? im really into surfing, i lived in subic but surfing's not a popular word, and the moment i thought of surfing i wanted to try it, i bought surfing mags and stuff..when i'm in school, i always talk to my friends about the trip and they're pretty much uninterested. good thing my bestfriend agreed to go with me, this is gonna be a major event in our lives actually. i've always dream of riding with the waves..well to stand first on a board is not as easy as it looks, we're planning to go there for only 2 days, that's like so sad. im attending college in quezon city so it's difficult to get away for a week..

youll find the so called "crushers" everywhere, even people who dont seem to talk like one or look like one, even way before blue crush hit the big screen, so why get ourselves pissed about it? in the end its their loss, whos enjoying the waves after all? certainly not one among this type of people. i say, just keep on surfing
