check this out:

SUNSET BEACH
Aloha, this is Kaena with the report for Thursday morning at 7 AM.

SURF
3-4 ft. - waist to shoulder high with occasional 5 ft. and good conditions.

SLOWLY decreasing, WNW & NNW swells with small, fun size waves. Super clean conditions this morning, but expect some mushy waves later when the Sea Breeze kicks in.

WEATHER
Calm & near Glassy in the early morning. SE to Variable Wind of less than 15 mph today. Possible Afternoon Onshore Sea Breezes developing later. Mostly sunny morning, but some scattered afternoon clouds with a chance of showers. High Temps near 80.

save for the mushy waves ,it sounds excellent...
*sigh sigh sigh*

sayang al, you should've stayed til monday! grin grin grin
ganda ng alon man! the beach break cleared up a bit, seemed as if tuesday morning would make it surfable. the point was really good though. in the morning, it was still pretty big, but the waves weren't choppy na so it was easy to get out. BIG waves (big for me!) but it was GOOD! it was really scary, and i had to psyche myself up, but i did it man! in the afternoon, the waters were calmer, the waves were still big, but not as strong and fast as in the morning.

wish i could go again this weekend, maybe to daet or something, but i'm just so darn broke....  cry cry cry

*sigh* surf...

it wasn't a full suit, it was kinda thin, no booties (big diff) and no head thing whatchacallit....

it wasn't THAT cold actually, but imagine surfing in warm waters all year round man. it was my first time out in a wetsuit that day (we surfed somewhere in san miguel) and i actually met some people at another spot (k-58_ who've never surfed WITHOUT a wetsuit. sad really... grin

thanks for the info  grin i was wondering if anyone knew of boat trips that we can take around the South East Asian region, aside from the Philippines..?

i was thinking of letting my friend fly here then go to Bali after we go around the 'Pinas. problem is its typhoon season those months. Guess I'll have to figure out if August is a good time to come over smiley

i got there monday morning from baguio. the waves were smaller, still shoulder to head high, but very clean sets. there were a bunch of locals at the beach break, and one other guy at the point (jun had just come in) and mike went out with me. it was sweet, not too big at the point, real mellow, hardly wind, maybe a nice breeze grin being a beginner i just had to pick the smaller waves at the point, but it was cool coz no competition. nice long rides grin grin glassy, not crowded grin grin grin the waves died down around 2ish, getting smaller and smaller, so we just hung out at the kubo and stared at the sea...  cool

the situation at the san juan surf camp is pretty bad. although i always stay there even though it's expensive (dorms are cheap so i stay there now) and there can't be much to say about the amenities, it's convenient because of the location and the people are nice. lately, i've heard a lot of complaints regarding the camp, lots of thefts, some cleanliness issues, etc. apparently, a lot of people have been complaining since a few years back of items being taken from their rooms. management still isn't doing anything about it and appears almost entirely complacent. i heard that the recent theft cost someone almost Php70,000. and during my last stay, my rusty tide watch got stolen     sad sad sad  ah well... advised to bring my own lock since i stay there often enough, or otherwise leave your valuables at the desk before you surf. shame, really, if only the other camps were closer...

yeah, i was in daet a couple of weeks ago, right after the storm. i actually tried the boards! they're alright man, lookd like  tongue but it works  wink shape is weird, i guess alvin took into account a few things regarding the rocker and the nose and made some hybrid wide nose, thick rocker, weird shaped board.  they also made a 6'6 shortboard. really thin, sturdy, okay din. but i don't think they've actually produced one for sale or anything.

hola zidd, and people from cali! cheesy just in a few days ago from manila. was at santa cruz yesterday, boy, was it HOT! saw some surf action, not sure what the breaks were called. lots of people out in small surf at powell's (?) it's the one to the extreme right of the boardwalk. but saw this break further down with better waves (2 breaks on either side of a cliff, might be steamer's). water was STILL cold despite the heat, props to the chicks surfing in bikinis. will wait for a wetsuit (getting one soon). anyone wanna hook up? let me know  grin i like santa cruz wink
staying at foster city now, but going up to humboldt  wink maybe next next (?) a friend wants to take me to the lost coast (?) to surf smiley
