There was a happening in the surfcamp last march19,my japanese friend and her fiancee was in a deep sleep, around 2am-4am the ransacked was in progress they pulled out the window i guess its a gilousy glass type.they we're very complacent that time and perhaps a deep sleep coz they we're so much tired from the travel, pretty secure they feel in the denizens coz they're supposed to go to davao but despite of the bombing they cancelled it.Well, ironically,no place is safe now at this days,i guess we hav to be more aware and that is very sad.And the sad thing is it was an inside job and they tooked a lot of cash,WEll it's like paying big cash just to surf no worries. undecided

hi everyone  wink

Surfcamp is in san juan.
That's rally bad... im sory for your friend kurdec. to think surfcamp charges big time. Last year or 2 years ago the same thing happened. An Australian surfer with his girlfriend were in one of the surf spots in San Juan. I can't say the name of the resort because nothing was confirmed.... but just the same obvious.

If im not mistaken, the couple went somewhere in the late afternoon/ evening and had to be back late. Their room were opened but the door/ lock was not destroyed. The discman with the cd and a cellphone was taken. The funny thing was, there were 2 cellphones. only one was taken. Obviously, the thief did not know that the phone he/ she is not taking is the better, much expensive one. hehehehe! Naturally you'd think that's kinda fishy. Somewhat an inside job since the locks were ok. Even the police says so but there's no evidence.

Very disappointed, they left the resort. While they were checking out, they heard music from nearby.... it was the cd that was in the discman. U think that's merely coincidence or what?! angry grin

the situation at the san juan surf camp is pretty bad. although i always stay there even though it's expensive (dorms are cheap so i stay there now) and there can't be much to say about the amenities, it's convenient because of the location and the people are nice. lately, i've heard a lot of complaints regarding the camp, lots of thefts, some cleanliness issues, etc. apparently, a lot of people have been complaining since a few years back of items being taken from their rooms. management still isn't doing anything about it and appears almost entirely complacent. i heard that the recent theft cost someone almost Php70,000. and during my last stay, my rusty tide watch got stolen     sad sad sad  ah well... advised to bring my own lock since i stay there often enough, or otherwise leave your valuables at the desk before you surf. shame, really, if only the other camps were closer...

Better to tell everyone the NAME of the place. So, that the majority of the people here won't patronize the place.

I am aghast to find there is theft in the Philippines. angry Can this be really true. huh Come on everyone you need to have commonsense when you are outside of your own home. You wouldn't leave your valuables on the beach when your in the water would you. Don't leave your valuables lying around in your room. Have your own lock with you and basically don't trust anyone you don't really know. It doesn't matter what country your in or what hotel, surfcamp or house your staying in. If you leave valuables within the reach of thieves then they will take them.
Cheers

yup mark..... but what im saying is that, u check in into a resort. they give u ur set of keys then they open it with theirs and get ur stuff..... coz there's no other explanation to what actually happened.

so i guess, we have to be extra careful.

cheers!

heard that same story while we were in LU din... have been told to bring my own padlock next time we decide to stay at surf camp (technically now "san juan surf resort").
in the version i heard, someone broke into the room forcibly.

al - i hear that hacienda is okay but that it can also sometimes be kinda dirty... depends who you talk to really.

millie girl... seems like hacienda is getting the vote from most people... have not stayed there... and have had mixed reviews... surf camp/san juan surf resort as well if you bring your own padlock i suppose... agree with al that sebay is overpriced... oh, there's this new place called waveriders but its pricey unless you have a whole bunch of people with you to share the cost of the rooms.
