hi guys, i went to surf shop at rockwell a couple of weeks ago and got to chat with the sales person there. She told me that there's a place around Cubao area that sells surfboards... cheap daw. Don't know if this is true (i actually find it hard to believe) and i'm not about to go out and drive around searching for that "place" if none of you guys haven't even heard of it... thanks.

can anyone tell me how to get to zambales where that surf resort is? do they rent boards there? i'm thinking it might be a good idea to check it out since i live in manila and zambales is a bit closer than LU (well, subic is). Is it anything like LU?

hey Dodo, can you give us driving directions to your place? i really wanna check out that place especially no that you've said that it's only 156 kms from balintawak. that's just half the distance compared to LU's 300 kms of driving. Is there a place there that rents boards? what time of the year is surfing season there? thanks.

not yet sponjah. i wanted to go to zambales last weekend but i'm just so busy right now. doesn't look like i'll be surfing till around march. i'll try to go to LU too if i can squeeze it in.  

i am amazed by how people from this forum seem to be full time surfers... sounds like you guys just "float" from one surfing trip to another. wish i had more free time like you guys. i've been wanting to go surfing so bad that i've been dreaming about it.

i guess the closest thing to surfing that i can do right now is talk about it. that's why i'm in this forum. thanks to everyone for keeping me sane.

hi sponjah, i used to swim too but i find it hard to do the "S" stroke on a long board. i'm assuming you're using one too. it's just too wide i guess to permit the same freedom for your arms. actually, i don't even know if i'm doing the S stroke when i'm surfing... i'm working on my paddling and trying to analyze... no "imagine" how i can make it more efficient since i can't surf as much as you do.  

i'm seriously considering using training paddles next time i go surfing for the extra boost! (that was a product of my trying to imagine sessions) there's a bit of a problem though... you've probably figured it out... can't grab the board if i have it on right? that's why i'm gonna get neoprene paddles. it's like a glove with webbed fingers (handicapped divers use these) will it work? i don't know... as i said, just imagining.

hey q2002, i saw a couple of guys surfing on the foot of that bridge (almost directly below that bridge actually) last spring. were you by any chance one of those guys? man it was so cold!!! i couldn't believe those guys were in the water! brrr. to be exact, in your picture, they were on the right end and far side of the bridge. did that make sense? sorry i can't remember the name of the place... old fort something.

makes me appreciate the warm waters we have year round!

what are the blanks made out of anyway? what are other applications of this material (boats? ships? etc.), maybe we can ask around. i read somewhere that bamboo's also being used in some boards. bamboo composite that is.

has anyone tried shipping a surfboard to the philippines? i have no idea how much it would cost but what really scares me is the tax or whatever customs bribe that you have to pay to get your board when it gets here.

hey that's great millie. would be nice if you could sell some here too. i got one "on sale" from quiksilver a couple of months back. when i went to LU they were selling rashies too (fox was the brand i think) and it was still cheaper than the one i got. in fact, it even looked better than the one i got! i don't really care much about the brand and i think i could have gotten another one for the price of the quiksilver logo. man, i hate getting ripped off! i guess it's like wearing armani knee pads hehe   well, didn't know any better then.
