     Hey ocean, take everybody else's advise. Try it out first. It's gonna be a waste of money if you buy a board that's new and you are only stating out. I'd advise you learn to surf before buying one.

    Hey vince914, I'm a beginner too so don't ask me...   ... but I'll try pour in whatever i know.
     As to when you can shift to a shortboard is up to u. Some even start with a shortboard right away. I guess u know the basics but there are some (or a lot of) differences. There's duck diving and stuff like that.

hi. millie.... hi g2002   . About the prices of boards... yup they're really high. that's one reason why other people think that surfing is only for the elite. To think, mountaineering stuff are more expensive (and heavy too). How much is it in Manila anyway? Are the prices of the boards I posted much higher? I hope not coz I was hoping I'd be able to dispose them off faster than those for sale in manila

Yeah, mark, anybody could donate their boards but in that case I'll be the one with open arms.  C'mon you guys, give me you're boards!!! C'mon, c'mon!
    Like I said, the prices here are really high that's why I don't think anybody from here would give their boards.  

.... and if sponjah were here, he'd be next in line waiting for board donations! hehehe.

ur right, millie. Those at the airport really do that. Friends from Cabarita had the same complaints... and they had longboards with them. They had a  hard time at the airport and the more when they got on a bus from manila to la Union!
   if you don't add extra layers (cloth, bubble wraps, etc.) before you stick it in the surf bag, you'll surely get dings all over your surfboards.

.... that's one reason why surfers from all over just buy their boards here and resell them when they leave.

... plus, by the way, you'll get more delays because some might think that you're bringing in long guns stuffed in the bag... yup GUNS, ammo!... because of the terrorism.
